Knowing that they already have Brisebois , why go for another defensman ?

Hah, I don't think Brisebois is going to be playing there for a long time. I'd be surprised if he is still going to be there after this summer.

Anyway, the trades seems to be brutal especially when you consider Tanguay went to the same division.

Maybe they are still bitter about Theo trade.

Colorado still owes us something for the Roy gift.

Wow. Glad we didn't go after him seeing as how we have Zednik.

depends how much money Tanguay wants...and in that case, I'd rather spend that money on getting a quality free agent forwards without giving up anything in return...

Apparently Tanguay was asking for 5 million per season. The Avs traded him because they wouldn't be able to resign him. The question is why trade him within the division.

well I went in the colorado forum during the playoffs and when colorado was eliminated some colorado fans were saying things like "trade Tangay...I dont want to see him anymore....trade him for a 2nd round pick" I found that weird.

Couldn`t we have traded Ryder(and somebody else) for Tanguay?

from what i heard on RIS,looks like the Avs think they gonna be short on Ds pretty soon, and Tanguay is a rfa next year...
so they went with the best D they could find

Jordan Leopold is a good d-man and is young . Don't forget that the Flames are having really good d-men core , so that Leo was having less time , last season , to play in PP situation .

I wasn't serious about Brisebois ,, in my previous post...

I think his age is the factor. He's about at the point where he should increase his #'s and do it at a relatively low cost for a few years. Other than Higgins or Markov, Mtl. didn't match what they wanted.
