That's pretty damn nice. They had our first 3 picks in the first round.

Plus we have Carle, in addition to 3 mock first-rounders. I think that Gainey did not do himself a disservice with this draft. I have no problem with any of the _4_ picks in the first 3 rounds, although I recognize that it's only speculative at this point. Fischer does not strike me as a Hainsey clone, and he seems better to me than the guy picked at the spot from where the Habs traded down.

Let's just say that the upside on Fischer is much higher than on Wishart's....

The Hockey News also had White, Maxwell and Fischer in the top 30....in the top 25 actually. Kind of ironic, but Fischer was ranked the lowest of the three. I know the success of our draft can't be based on one set of rankings, but we did pretty well judging by that!

Fischer has been through a tough year. Gainey understands the maturity that comes with dealing with illness in the family. The kid will put in an honest effort, we know that. He sure looks like he needs to start shovelling steaks as soon as possible though.

Bob Gainey is the smartest GM out there and if anyone knows anything about maturity and leadership it is him.
