Number & Letter Grades for new prospects.....

Nice work on those, Dave!

Bernier gets an 8?! What, he's the new Jamie Storr?

Hey, let's just hope he lives up to that 8 ranking!

Wasn't Jamie Storr a 10A?

Nice work, Dave. I was going to make a post about when we might see those updated - but I really didn't want to seem pushy.

BTW, how come in our entire organization, we don't have a single player with an 'A'? Isn't there someone we're sure is going to reach their potential? How about John Seymour? A 4 isn't that tough. We could make him a 3.5A just to make him feel better. Then we'd have at least 1.

I think Kanko, at one point, was an "A". Gleason was, too.

Yep to both.

By the same token, I don't hand out too many F's either. It is hard to say someone will definitely reach their potential and hard to say someone will definitely never ever see their potential. Admittedly, my letter grades tend to be crunched betwen B and D.

I'm saving the A grade for when we draft Dustin Rose in 2011.

I'm upset Karlsson isn't in the organization anymore. I always got a kick out of his grade. It was something like 5F. Thats pretty hilarious. As if a 5 isn't bad enough, he got an F. Thats like saying you'll never reach the level of "suck." Thanks for the laugh, Dave.

Surprised by the "B" on Bernier more than the "8." I take it you're pretty high on him, Dave? Goalies are so hard to predict, a B seems pretty confident.

It will take me a little while to fine tune stuff. Step #1 begins with the development camp.

Zatkoff is going to turn some heads.

I think that was DL's best value pick on Saturday.

Just for the record, and take this with a grain of salt, but I remember seeing Bernier in the fall when Lewiston played here in Halifax and watching him in warm up. He was so good I swore that he'd already been drafted because he looked way more mature in net than a 17 year old. I was shocked to see that he hadn't been drafted yet. Best goalie I have ever seen live in the Q (mind you, I didn't get the chance to see Fleury or Luongo when they were here so take that for what it's worth). Bernier is the only goalie I have ever seen who immediately struck me as "He will play in the NHL as a starter" right from the get go. His feet are already NHL speed and with some coaching I wouldn't be surprised if we have a challenger for the starting role by the time he's 22. 8B sounds right because he could always fall off the wagon, but my betting is that he makes it.

Meckler is an interesting pick to me. He along with Nolet will have at least 3 yrs of playing in school. Would not shock me to see him start putting up Parse like numbers.

Braun played for an AEG team in Germany and they got the skinny on the kid. Could be an intriguing last pick imo.

I liked their later round picks in that all look to be good at something whether it be skating, speed, toughness or great shot. Will be interesting to see where these kids are at in 3 years.

Braun was ranked #75 overall by THN. So getting him with a 6th round pick might indeed be a steal.

Nice job DARE. No major quibbles.

Suddenly the depth on D doesn't look too bad.

I still am not happy with the D prospects. Sure we have alot more names now (really after 2005 draft) but no elite prospects yet...

Not many teams do. I'd say LA has a chance with 2 elite forwards in Sully and Anze. And Bernier is the best goalie prospect they've had in years. Whether or not any of these kids becomes an elite nhl player is still up in the air. The prospects on D look solid at best, nobody sexy. But elite D are few and fare between especially prospects. There was 1 drafted this year. 1 last year. Not too many imo.

you keep looking at this as NEGATIVELY as you wish...Its about the best available player, and this year was weak for D, after Johnson!
