MCCABE to sign with the leafs!!

I do not know about the rest of you but I am pumped that the Leafs have signed Mccabe and locked him up for 5.75 million per season!

It will be interesting to see if he can match his numbers from last year...typically after a career year and signing for big money guys like this dissappoint, let's hope so.

McCabe is a crap dman. How do you score nearly 70 pts and still end up a minus player????

He can't make the first pass (turnover) , can't play in his own end.

Kaberle is the much better dman, and far more valuable to the leafs.

All he really has is a rocket point shot on the one timer, which is always set up by the great passing of Kaberle.

I wouldn't give McCabe more than 3.5mill, especially with the glut of UFA dmen on the market. He is getting 5.75 mill.

So you get McCabe and a league min guy for 6.25. or you could have Kubina (3.5) and McKee (3) for 6.5. Seems a no brainer to me.

I'm pretty happy to hear this news, as I just purchased a personalized autographed McCabe 8"x10" photo for my girlfriends son's birthday (in August) who happens to be a huge Leafs/McCabe fan. The present wouldn't of been so nice if NcCabe was on another team.

....and yes, I do feel kinda weird spending money of Leaf memorabilia, and I still hope to turn my gf's son into an anti-Leaf fan in time.

Take it the other way around though. As a Leaf fan I would be happy about that signing 'cause if McCabe is not signed, pressure would've been all over the place for Ferguson to get Pronger. And with that kind of pressure, he would have no choice but send the other way guys like Kaberle and Steen and I don't believe the Leafs would've been a better team with Pronger and without McCabe, Kaberle and Steen. So an overpaid and overrated d-man like McCabe is better than losing Kaberle and Steen and getting Pronger.

But let's just say it was a lose-lose situation for them......not that I will be sad too much....

Eventhough I'm not a big fan of Mc Cabe...

Chicago traded him to Toronto in October 2000 for Alexander Karpovtsev and Toronto's fourth-round choice (Vladimir Gusev) in the 2001 entry draft.
Poor Hawks. Is there a worst management in the whole NHL?

I think the Leafs definitely overpaid him. I would rather have had Jovocop, but that's just me. McCabe certainly has a lethal one-timer but other than that he's not as good as his salary is.

I'm kinda disapointement toward that deal. If McCabe costed them 5,75 a year, how much will A. Markov cost us next summer? It is scary.
