But more importantly...

Did they do it with their current defense or did you trade for a legitimate #1?

LOL

Who did you trade to get Bouwmeester? Travis Green?

I traded Green and a pick for Danny Heatley, as well as Robert Reichel for Jason Spezza

Nope, Spezza is rating 70 with huge potential (although Carlo has 99 potential compared to Spezza's 98 ), and when I offered my mid 70s rated Reichel the Sens gladly accepted...

LOL...........at the start of the season there were quite a few good free agents available..........I'm not too happy with Trevor Kidd as the leafs backup so I went and brought back Felix Potvin and he was Eddie Belfour's backup........that takes care of the Goaltending situation for the Leafs right there........

On defence I ended up adding players like Kasparaitis, Yushkevich and Marchment (Free agency) and Brian Rafalski via the trade route....so I added these 4 guys to the group with Kaberle, McCabe.......that takes care of the defence right there.........

Up front I also added Adam Oates free agency and picked up Brett Hull from Detroit via a trade....I think it was Svehla's rights along with Tucker......so this means I reunite Hull with Oates and they play on Toronto's second line......I also picked up Claude Lemieux with all his playoff experience and via the trade route (can't remember right now who I traded away) but I picked up some more grit like Cole from Carolina and Scatchard from the Islanders.......Oh yes Arvedsson at start of the season is also free agent to I signed him up and he plays on Toronto's top line with Sundin and Mogilny.......Gilmour I signed on as well and he played on 3rd line with Nieuwendyk and Roberts.....I put Claude Lemieux on 4th line with Scatchard and Domi......Cole I put on the wing on the same line with Hull and Oates.

So as Joe Bowan would say;

THE LEAFS WIN!!! THE LEAFS WIN!!!

Now I remember......I traded Owen Nolan and Robert Svehla to Detroit for Brett Hull and it acepted that trade..........although if Owen Nolan continues to play like he has the last couple of games I wouldn't make the deal.....I think that Alyn McCauley hatrick the other day was a nice wake-up call for Mister Nolan.

Cheers!~

Hmm, reminds me of the days when I traded Shayne Corson and some more useless players for 1st rounders in EHM, and had 4 of the first 5 picks :p

What do your Lines look like?

Here's my NHL 2004 Dynasty Leafs!

1st Line - Sundin-Antropov-Fata
2nd Line - ME!! - Mogilny-Nolan
3rd Line - Nieuwendyk-Tucker-Roberts
4th Line - Holden-Brandon Reid- Kovalchuk

Defence.
Kaberle-Bouwmeester
McCabe-Berg
Timmonen-Komisarek

I also have Spezza on my bench.. he's only rated 70 so not good enough to get in the line-up this year.. but next year he's 3rd line centre. Kovalchuk was acquired for a 1st round pick, and is only on the 4th line because he's struggled since the deal.. Fata has 8 goals in 12 games playing alongside Sundin.. his speed opens up the ice and creates chances...

Mine would be

Heatley-Sundin-Mogilny
Nolan-Niewendyk-Tenkrat
Antropov-Steen-Myself
Tucker-Immonen- Renberg

Kaberle-Hedin
McCabe-Seikola
Pilar-Berg

Belfour
Kidd

Yep, I transfered all the European players to their respective teams. I suppose I must have traded Gary Roberts too once upon a time...

Hmm, I have been thinking a little. Since I tranfered Green to the Bruins before I started, I must have sent Roberts and possibly a pick to get Heatley. Still mad? :p

My Leafs on NHL 2004 (EA SPORTS) that won the Stanley Cup looks like this:

Arvedsson-Sundin-Mogilny
Cole-Oates-Hull
Roberts-Nieuwendyk-Gilmour
Lemieux.C-Scatchard-Domi

Rafalski-McCabe
Kaberle-Yushkevich
Marchment-Kasparaitis

Belfour
Potvin

The Leafs picked up 3-trophies:

1) Stanley Cup
2) Presidents Trophy (114 points)
3) Conn Smythe trophy ...Mats Sundin

I made sure that Felix Potvin played at least 1-quarter of the Leafs games this way Belfour doesn't get burnt out for the playoffs.

Also everytime Leafs played one of the better teams in the League I not only had Sundin centre the top line but as well I had him centering the 4th line too.

On the second powerplay unit I replace Cole with Gary Roberts.

Geesh, I'm in my fifth season of ESPN with a very young team (mostly draft picks). Only current Leafs still on roster are: Telqvist (#1 goalie), Mogilny, Antropov, McCabe, Kaberle, Colaiacovo, Hedin and Klee. Other notables are Gagne (traded Sundin & Belfour to Philly for, Belfour was 43 gimme a break), Zhitnik and B. Jackman. Currently with 15-4-3 record, pro mode. Only at 64% of budget.

Basically blew up most of the team, signed and traded free agents to acquire three first five picks in each of the first two drafts after first season. Didn't make playoffs first go round after that. 32-41-9 (2004-2005).

(P.S. ESPN kills EA :moon: )
