He doesn't want to leave the organization for the world, but when pay time comes around... Hmm, I wonder how he can justify this amount of money? He's a great defensive player, decent hitter, below-average offensively, but he's nothing more than a bottom pairing guy. $2.2m is not bottom pairing money
Well it sounds to me like his agent decided to just put the bar at 2.2 and hope that the Habs say yes for fear of losing him to free agency. The problem is that Bouillon won't and shouldn't get 2.2 anywhere. Then what happens is he'll have to sign for less and if it's with Montreal , I think he won't be very well liked after this type of thing.....BOO birds prepare
if you can get it go for it . no hard feelings here. after all it bizness
he was givin top minutes this season and many nights he was our best d man . i cant justify 2.2 million a year but again it doesnt suprise me that other teams will. after all he did play for peanuts for all the years here in montreal now he has to think about setting himself up for retirment . he is going on 31 . time to cash in . if you can do it go for it !
to everyone shocked about him wanting 2.2 million put yourself in his shoes . if anyone deserves to get rich why not him . ill cheer for the under dog .
good luck in the future frank i really liked your style and determination the years you played for the habs it was a pleasure to watch you
He's UFA, price for UFA's go up and I'm sure he can get that from the market. He's been getting 600k or less for all his career and now is probably his best and last chance to get a nice contract. He's worked hard, he deserves it but as far as the Habs are concerned I would rather go after a top guy because we have enough depth guys already.
Wow, I've been really wanting to sign Bouillon, but 2.2 million is way overboard. Personally, anything more than 1.5 is far too much. I would barely consider going that high. Who knows though, reports these days are coming from everywhere.
Add $800,000 onto the $2.2 million Bouillon asking price and we get a Jay McKee instead! There is no way in hell Cube would get that on the open market and Gainey knows it, keep our D now and add that type of salary to a McKee or Kubina anyday...or go over the edge and try to sign a Chara or trade for Pronger if we have anything they want, put that type of money to good use at the 2-3 spot on D, not at 6-7.
TRading for a Pronger maybe cheaper than signing a Chara, I know I'm off topic but hey the money spent on a bigger and better Dman makes more sense too me!!!
I agree that 2.2 is too much, but by a small margin. Since Dandenault made 1,7M$ last season and Rivet currently has 2,5M$, I think 1,9M$ is fair for Bouillon, especially since he cost Montreal peanuts in the past seasons....
