I haven't seen/heard/read anything anywhere about what Petr Sykora is doing. I believe in a paper a while back he stated that he did want to return.

Everything (and it's not a lot) I've read have indicated that Sykora would like to come back...the Rangers for their part appear not to have expressed a whole lot of interest to this point.

As we shouldn't.

Unless he's willing to take a fairly substantial pay-cut, I wouldn't want him to return.

Gotta agree with you here. He always seemed like he was a half a step behind this season. Maybe its because he didn't get into proper game shape in Anahiem. Whatever it was if he wants to play for the Rangers he best take a HUGE pay cut.

I would think he would want to stay here.

If he's smart, he'll realize he's not going to recieve the kind of money he was in the earlier stages of his career, and therefore take the paycut.

The Rangers should sign him to a one year contract for around 1 million, just to be safe. Although, he was putting up much better numbers in New York than he was in Anaheim.

i want him back, i think hes going to be much better this year, not being injured, and a full year with regular 2nd line minutes.

He seemed quite inconsistant last season and except for his few shootout goals he's not worth the $'s he was making.

Weird how Sather gets all the blame and Maloney gets all the credit.....

Anyway....

Sykora didn't do enough in my opinion to be offered a contract. I wouldn't totally be againts bringing him back but I'd prefer only one of our Czech vets return. (Straka)

It is a testament to how many prospects the Rangers have that Drats hasn't come up once in this thread. Drats was traded for what looks like a rental and the Rangers had enough to take that sort of hit....With Sather running the show...

Two years at 1.5mill for either Sykora OR Rucinsky. Thats the max I'd give either.

I'm indifferent to Sykora...

I can go either way, but I think I'd have to decline if it would take a 3+ year contract to get it done - I just think there will be others available in the future and/or youngsters who will come up. Heck, Cullen can play right wing.

I'd rather re-sign Sykora than Rucinsky if I had to choose.

I think the Rangers should sign Sykora to a two year contract at most. The Rangers dont really have any prospects waiting at the RW position besides Jessiman that I hope will prove a lot of posters wrong next season in Hartford.

I'd like to see him back, if he gets a full preseason in, and gets himself in game shape, he's be a very nice 2nd liner...

I'd rather bring in a new player like Guerin.

Nor have the Rangers pursued a new deal with Petr Sykora, the winger who played the second half of last season with them but couldn't bury several golden scoring chances in the first-round sweep by the Devils
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ho...p-364285c.html

Like in game 2 when he hit the crossbar late in the second period when the Rangers were on a 5 on 3

He was hampered with a hamstring/groin injury for most of the season

Good point. You can argue hes worth 10 points in the standings just for the SO alone.

With Jagr, Prucha and

Nylander, this team should do just fine in the SO. But, the key would either be getting to that point, or winning before them, and there may be a better option than Sykora to accomplish those two objectives.
