Players I wouldn't mind seeing from LOTN's list:
PS. my thanks to LOTN for compiling the list
Jeremy Roenick (He'd be a good cheap (yet old) player for the team for one year)
Jeff Halpern (Good defensive presence)
Petr Cajanek (underrated player who'd help out)
Greg Johnson (solid all around player, and former Flyers draft pick to boot!)
Yanic Perreault (Great on faceoffs...maybe a good #4 center)
Petr Sykora (I think this would be a great pick up.)
Sergei Samsonov (Definitely intested, his speed and scoring would be welcome)
Anson Carter (Not a bad possibility)
Mark Recchi (I'd take him back for a 1 or 2 year 1.5 million dollar contract)
Radek Dvorak (He'd be a good third line winger)
Jeff Friesen (Great second line winger, number 1 on my wish list)
Petr Bondra (Sure, he's still got some juice left in him. I'd take him.)
Jaroslav Spacek (Serviceable d-man)
Danny Markov (Great to have back. Solid player)
Brian Leetch (I'd take him, like Recchi or Roenick, on a short term low paying contract. His experience would be great, but his injuries as of late would be the same old same old in this lineup.)
Depending on what it would cost, it may be reasonable to get both Friesen and Dvorak. They dont seem to be high on anyone's list. With Dvorak, I only sign him if we intent to keep Nedved around for any legnth of time cause they seem to play their best hockey when paired together. Gagne Nedved Dvorak could make a good #1 line until Forsberg comes back. Dvorak is a decent passer and can be tried with the Carter line as well and at worst he is a very good 3rd liner that plays pretty well both ways.
I like Friesen with Carter and Umberger just dont know if he can play the RW at all. He seems to be most comfortable on the left.
IMO samsonov is perfect for the 2nd line. still hoping
As long as him or RJ can make the switch to the RW without a problem, I think that would work as well. Most seem to think Samsonov is a goal scorer but he has put up much more assists in his career then goals. He is the kind of guy that can make several moves while the other two on the ice get open and he can dish them the puck or put a shot on net for the rebound.
With that said, I dont have faith in Clarke that he would sign someone like him, expecially with the cap situation.
