No the reason was Marcel Aubut. He's been clear about that since day one.

The voyeur in me would like to see this. Hey, so he plays 80 games in 2 years,Chipchura can play the other 80. Play him with Kovalev and some other brave soul. Put Ribs on the W for all I care. Play Lats with Eric, why not ? If nothing else,it would be great theatre. A new story line every day. Do a body cavity search on his parents before every game though.

at the same time why don't we just bring in Tie Domi and Sean Avery?

That being said...

This morning I heard that Gainey is consideirng a two year, two million offer ($1 million a season) to Eric Lindros.

Eric has recieved a 1-year offer from Toronto and has been contacted by two other teams (though one was Nashville who are likely out of the bidding with Arnott going there.)

Discuss.

Let's keep Ribeiro !

Because Lindros' parents did not want him to play in a small market, not because it was a French speaking city.

Avery is a definitive no-no.

But Domi? I think he'd be well received. I THINK.

I like it. I think.

Lindros is so universally hated that I've started liking him and hoping he does well. I don't think he's all that bad of a guy either.

Talent-wise, he's still of star calibre. He's too injury prone which is, of course, why I'd be hesitant here. But hey, if the guaranteed amount is low enough, incentive laden, then why not?

I'd rather sign JR and / or Daze.

JR over Lindross any day of the week.

JR would be a cheap option and I think he wants to prove something so he could be a good signing, Lindors would be a desperation move and his injury proneness makes him unattractive to most teams out there, Montreal included.

Lindros lacks the drive and just can't play in the game anymore like he did 5 years ago or even longer.

A line of JR - Lindros - Avery. GENIUS! A) Distracting all the boo birds to this one line and B) the noise will be so great it'll confuse the opposition so Lindros line can have their way with them.

Speaking of Daze... Im wondering why the french media aint pushing Gainey to sign him. I wouldnt say no, he's injury prone, but if they could work out a small contract with bonuses for the number of games he play I think it could work. We'd get a huge foward, and a quebecer for that matter

Dazé did not play for how long now ? Two years (including lock out). If he accepts 500 K, why not. He would be an improvement over Dagenais, that's for sure. But he's not a long term solution. Can he skate in the new NHL ?

No the Leafs were happy last year. It's easy to make a Leaf happy just pay any player a lot of money and they think he must be a game breaker. If you pay a player low money in Leaf land then he was a steal that other teams didn't understand. Leafs never make mistakes in fact they have planned not winning the cup before 2067 so they can celebrate the centennial win.

Gainey have to make a trade if he want to upgrade his team. Maybe, with Minnesota trade for Dimitra and the pick of Sheppard, we could make an offer for Koivu brother's. We could offer them something with Souray. Because for the moment, I don't see anything on the market to help us. Lindros and JR will just bring us distraction and I don't think Gainey like that.

I'm no Lindros fan, but I'm assuming he's pried his lips from the Bonnie teat by now.

I would go as far as taking an overpaid Guerin instead of Lindros....Though anybody but Lindros is good with me.....Marc Chouinard would be better.....Halpern too....Weight too (even if I don't want him), of even Kozlov (though I don't want him either....)
