The winger (likely career AHLer) that the Kings got from Phoenix for Lehoux.

I'm not quite sure on Hogeboom but I think Kanko's contract has not ended yet. Kanko was signed in 2003 but was sent back to his junior club, Kitchener, for the year. From the CBA on the NHLPA website,

Unless a Player and Club expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an additional year in accordance with this subsection, al terms of the SPC, with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary, games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided, however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all circumstances.
Therefore, Kanko's contract was extended a year and does not expire until 2007.

Thanks. I didn't even think of that.

And thanks for trying Reaper.

I figure Hogeboom is just such a minor guy he's not listed. But then why list Wilford and Nemecek??

Yeah...I went to TSN to see where they were listed and both have a current status of "offseason". That would indicate that they're locked into contracts.

As a side note-check out Kanko's scouting report: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/...name=nhl-kings

I recall Kanko being a major player in Kitchener's Memorial CUp win a few years ago. However, he seems to have tailed off in Manchester...many Monarch patrons have posted that he's been forced into a grinder role by the coaching staff.

I really hope they haven't totally mind-****ed him...it seems like he could have turned out to be a pretty good point-getter.

That's what I would assume (Hogeboom being too minor a guy to be listed). I'm not sure on Hogeboom's situation, but I'll just try throwing a theory out on it, which is a little hard to do since some sites differ on Hogeboom's birthdate (USCHO and the Kings Pipeline bio had Hogeboom's birthdate on 9/26/81 while TSN, HF, Hockeydb, an online Miami media guide, and his Monrachs bio have him born on 9/26/82; I'm going with the majority here) so bear with me.

Hogeboom's contract would seem cut-and-dry since the Monarchs site has the Kings signing him to a two year contract in 2004, and Hogeboom has performed two years of service. However, from the CBA,

Players aged 18-21 sign three year entry level contracts, and players aged 22-23 sign two year entry level contracts. Provided the 1982 year birthdate is correct, Hogeboom didn't turn 22 until September 26 and therefore should have signed a three year entry level contract. Again, just throwing an idea out there.

Wow!! Now THAT'S an answer to a question!!

If I had to make a bet, I'd bet that you're right and he signed for 3 years, not for 2.

You deserve a raise.

I emailed the Monarchs...we'll see if they email me back.
