Just wanted to say it... I really enjoyed it. It was awesome. Ryder and Hossa were incredible. Ribeiro was doing well for the first time in what 7 games, but I admit he played a great game. Saku played really well too, his wingers were not there but hey! The defense was good. Theodore made the stops. And Begin was my 2nd star of the game -- almost the first one. He did so well, it was just nice to watch. The game really began when Koivu checked Satan hardly on the board. Then Begin, Rivet and Langdon were in a destruction derby
I loved it too. That was the best game I've seen the Habs play in a long time. They didn't give an inch in the third period and were throwing the body well the whole game.
That's as close to a flawless game as your going to get.
I enjoyed this game as well......awesome game
The guys played physical for the most part, and the players who impressed me the most were Souray(as usual), Theodore(4 shutouts already), Koivu(big hit on Satan was great to see from our captain), Bulis (1 goal, 1 assist and a great game overall), Hossa, Ryder, Begin, Langdon, Breezer and Riberio. I still think Zednik, Rivet and Markov can all step up their games to become better.....because we need it if we want to make the playoffs.
BTW: Is it just me, or does the team look better when Perreault is not playing? I hope Gainey can trade Perreault and Audette to anyteam for a jockstrap soon
Best game of the year? that's not saying much. Our defense played well, but our PP sucked big time. The Sabres had more chances SH then we had on a long PP. Overall our PP was brutal.
Begin was hitting everything, and Bouillon was scrappy as usual. Brezzy and Souray had a good game as well. Markov still isn't playing as good as he can, his timing seems off. Rivet is still struggling. Yes he had a few good hits, but take him off the PP. Theodore was good when he had to be, but that wasn't often.
Langdon is a better Dwyer but no skills outside of fighting/hitting.
Kilger played a strong game, hopefully he keeps it up
Juneau's line played well. Koivu was a force, great hit, guess his knee is fully healed cause he was throwing the body well.
Audette was mostly useless, and Zednik is snakebit. The kid line was ok
After that they are calling me a stupid poster without any hockey knowledge!
Can you blame them? You give them several good reasons to think that way. Here's a suggestion. Forget about always trying to convince us that Perreault is ECHL material or that you were right about one player or another. No one cares. We all watch the games and everyone can form their own opinion, but we don't need to hear over and over the same things, it gets old.
So what if you were right about something. People are right and wrong all the time. It's learning from your mistakes that builds intelligence.
Don't take this the wrong way, cause I don't mind your posts, and I think too many posters here need to tone it down when they respond to your posts.
I also enjoyed the game...dosn`t it make your saturday night so much easier when they win???
Anyway my only problem with the game as most of you have mentioned was the Habs terrible powerplay. I was getting tired of all the 2 on 1`s for the sabres. Other than that it was good. After Koivu rocked Satan he dropped his gloves and grabbed the player standing next to him...who was that?
Does anyone know the faceoff stats for the Hab's last two games? How have we done on faceoffs with Perreault out of the lineup?
Saturday VS Buffalo :
Koivu - 11/16 = 69%
Ribeiro - 3/9 = 33%
Juneau - 9/18 = 50%
Begin - 7/9 = 78%
In Total - 30/52 = 58%
Friday VS Bufalo :
Koivu - 10/17 = 59%
Ribeiro - 5/18 = 28%
Juneau - 10/19 = 53%
Begin - 3/10 = 30%
In Total - 28/64 = 44%
Overall, 51% as a team. If it weren't for Ribeiro, that would be much higher though. Faceoffs really aren't the most important statistic. We can easily gain the puck after a lost draw, simply by outworking the opponent.
Mtl won 31, lost 23, for 57% success rate.
Koivu won 68%, Begin 77%
Mtl won 29, lost 38 for 43% success rate.
Koivu won 58%, Juneau 52%
So...I don't see a huge impact so far. Koivu has done well in the interim.
Thank you. We know Perreault's strength is faceoffs.....I was just curious how we're doing without him. It's only two games, hardly an accurate assessment, especially with such opposite results on consecutive nights.
