thank you very much.

by the way, did this news come from the Grandmaster Gainey himself? or was it from Hrdina or his agent?

Nice. If RIS or RDS reports it, then we can breathe in peace. It won't happen.

Can anyone else confirm that RIS reported it?

He took a lot of really bad penalties last year.

He was signed to be one of columbus' top two centers last year, but ended up being stuck with Balastik for most of the season, who wasn't quite ready for prime time.

He's a great faceoff man, and good defensively, which Carbo will like.

2003-2004 Ranked 14th in the NHL in face-off percentage (56.3%)
1998-1999: Ranked 9th in the NHL in face-off percentage (56.7%)

I'd like the Habs to sign him if they can somehow get rid of Bonk. He and Pleks can push Ribs for the second-line spot if he falters. Hrdina is a pass-first, shoot last type, which we Hab fans are quite familiar with.

Hrdina and Shanahan added while Bonk is subtracted would work for me. We'd still have room to add salary at the deadline if we're in the hunt.

Hrdina isn't that bad at all, guys. He's great on face offs and solid defensively, he also isn't bad on the playmaking side of things.

What is the point of signing a fringe play like HRdina when you have young guys that want/need to play. Us Habs fans don't want a signing just to see some action. We want something that will help our team. I don't think Hrdina will help our team especially with the centers we have that are pretty much all better then him.

Hrdina played very little with Kovalev, a few minutes here and there on the pwerplay and thats all.

Kovalev's center in Pittsburgh was mostly Straka, Lang or Lemieux.

is he a speedy guy?
No.

Can he pass (cuz Kovalev can shoot...)?
He forces more than he sets up. All alone 15 feet infront of the net, there's a good chance he passes.

He's a third line LW/Center and no more.

Bleh.............I'd pass on Hrdina............

We should go after Jeff Halpern instead if we want one of the remaining right handed center.

No, thanks !

Another Dackell or Sundstrom ! NO !

Why not get Desjardins, Brashear, Eric Chouinard, Hill and Odelein on top of that ? And I forgot Perreault.

And what if you sign Hrdina and put Bonk on the wing?
At least our 2nd line C would win some faceoffs...and you add 4 inches and 50 lbs on your 2nd line too. Not bad. Can play in his own zone. Better.

Stealing spot from a prospect? Which prospect? We have no center except for Chipchura...and I'm not sure he's ready yet. Plekanec? Perfect 3rd line center.

So I say: Go for it.

Not to sound like sour grapes, but a user here on hf had that handle and was acclaimed for it so Renholder shouldn't take any credit for that nifty one liner.

If he is cheap and knows his role he could be usefull..

Its always good to have some depth and experience at center.
Hes good on faeoff and he is right handed..
