Rangers looking to deal Carter and Poti

Perhaps Sather will be more hesistant to take on anyone the Oilers are looking to get rid of in the future.

Word is the Rangers are starting a defence first system this year, and that is the primary reason Poti is on his way out. I don't think I need to comment on Carter.

10/10 @Minnesota 0 0 -3 0 0 0 0 0 0
10/25 Detroit 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
10/28 Anaheim 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 4
11/2 Colorado 0 0 -1 2 0 0 0 0 1
11/4 Dallas 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1
11/6 @Carolina 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0
11/8 Philadelphia 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 3

Summary - against the teams that made the playoffs last year, anson has 7 games, 0 goals, 0 assists, - 4. His 2 goals, 1 assist output was in the 6 games vs teams like Carolina (3 times allready) columbus and atlanta.

Hard to believe slats is shopping him.

Defence first??? So....what is that, a 180-degree turn? Poti obviously doesn't fit into something like that, but I'm surprised the Rangers would do something fairly radical like that. Well, I guess when you've missed the playoffs for...how many years now?...you need to do SOMETHING to save your job, eh Slats?

I actually believe that Carter COULD fit into a defense-first system, but I don't think he'd WANT to.

Interesting stuff, though...maybe Slats would like Horcoff, say, for Nedved + part of his salary...?

Could we please have a few trade analyzers go over how they didn't like the two trades for the Oil?

In: Cross, Dvorak, York, (Ivan Koltsov drafted with 4th round pick acquired with York)

Out: Poti, Carter, Pisa, Murray

I think Lowe did nicely.

Absolutely. Poti was handling the puck like a hand grenade and getting booed out of the building. Carter was OBVIOUSLY too cool for Edmonton, Pisa is now in Europe, and Murray went to Nashville for Dunham - but is playing the same role there as he was here.

Cross...performed above and beyond. Somehow our #3 D-man.
Dvorak...outscoring Carter, a MUCH more complete player. Sick speed.
York...Potential Oilers MVP, hardest worker not named Moreau on team
Koltsov...Nifty russian D prospect with speed and mobility.

Lowe has OWNED Sather so far IMO. Ok, owned is a little strong - but he as definitely improved the team in necessary areas by paying attention to what really makes a particular player a good Oiler.

Agreed ... plus there's this to consider:

Poti + Carter + Pisa + Murray = $6,600,000
Cross + Dvorak + York + Koltzov = $5,050,000
(This assumes Pisa-Europe, and Koltzov-Russia) are not on the payroll.

That's enough of a savings to buy Comrie (hypothetically speaking).

Three times or so, if his agent is to be believed.

I still wish Pisa had stuck in EDM, but otherwise, the NYR-EDM deals are fantastic for us.
