This should keep the whiners at bay for a few days.

They should be ecstatic, we overpayed for mediocre talent. That should change the "Habs are cheap" chants to "Habs are stupid".

Sounds like a whole lot of dough for a guy the Rangers supporters don't seem to like.

Poti was considered as being some kind of unmovable garbage throughout the season, the whole arean booed him, the Rangers board booed him, and the day he'll be officially gone, watch for a new thread called something like ''The best news of this UFA period..'' They hated the guy and it's not like they have tons of puck moving d-men......

And for 4 years?????

He skates pretty well too, sorry guys but he is a very good #3 defenseman in this league right now...

It was always about signing something good, not sign somebody to sign somebody....

personally id take poti . you never know this could be his year .

if we pair him with our best defensive dman i say go for it and let him run wild .

rags fans rag on him because he hasnt put up the big numbers he was touted to put up but this seems like a good risk on montreal behalf at the right price

If this is true, that means Souray's on his way out.

IF indeed McKenzie did say that, then I think there's some truth to it. he's a well informed guy.
Poti to habs means Souray is gone. which team preferably on the west coast, needs some help on D and can give a decent center with size in return? I think it's shaping up to be that way.

Thats not what I have been reading the last 3 days. People want to sign someone just for the sake for signing someone.

No he's not. He's a good #5 and becomes average to below-average with more responsibilities as a #3-4.

I admit this would've been fun having the ugliest guy alive on the team but that is crazy money

I dunno..I think Bo tried to get invloved in some of the UFA talks..but the lenght of the contracts just scared the hell out of him
Not saying Gainey didn't try or didn't do a good job at letting those guys go, 'cause I do think he did, but people weren't happy 'cause we didn't get any significant.

But please don't sign somebody for the sake of doing it, that would be a major mistake and Poti will be one....

No kidding, this place has been unbearable for the last few days....

As for Tom Poti

Where does he fit? This would indicate that a guy like Souray is on his way out, and I definately think Souray is a better defender. That would be at best, a lateral move.

I really doubt this happens in either case...

I actually wouldn't mind him for a lesser amount either. I just dont think a 4 year deal is the right way to go with him.

Lateral move, but then we can trade Souray for help on offense. Let's be honest, Sheldon is not coming back after next season. Time to get something for him.

If we do sign Poti, that would be kinda surprising considering that BG wasn't supposed to get a d-man if he manage to sign Bouillon. I guess there a trade on the table....

IFFFFF, this is true, like everyone's saying, souray is probably heading out west. Why else would we need another Dman? Hopefully whatever might POSSIBLY be coming back on a Souray deal would improve this team at center. Personally, I can't stand Poti and his brain farts on the ice; and I get to see plenty of him living here in Connecticut.

Hey, to be a top 3 defenseman in a team in this league, you have to be in the best 90 in this league no ?

Tom Poti with his physical presence, his good skating ability and his great offensive weapons is easily in the top 90 in this league no doubt about it !

Where is everyone getting 'physical presence' from ? He's been characterized as anything but.

As I said on another thread, if Gainey said he was heading North, I'd start travelling SOUTH if I wanted to find him. He's the master of deception when it comes to telegraphing his intentions.
