Really? Sorry, i've been out of touch with hockey the last few weeks...

So the consensus seems to be that Souray's not coming back?

If that's the case and Poti is signed as his replacement, I think we're in deep trouble defensively, unless we can sign a stopgap type of dman like D.Markov.

Always doing the opposite of what you say is not very deceptive.

Maybe 3-4 years ago but not anymore. He's a bottom pairing guy who plays the PP and that's about it. Not worth more than 2.2 or so a season short-term. 4 years 15 million would be disgusting amount for this has-been/never-was.

not serious...look what the same poster wrote on CHfan too (french sorry) :

''Selon la station de radio INFO 800 AM de Québec, le Canadien négocierait en vue d'envoyer Aebischer et Souray en Floride pour Stephen Weiss.

Selon la staion Énergie 98.9 fm de Québec, Montréal enverrait Aebischer, Zednik, Ribeiro, Souray et un choix de 2e ronde au Flyers pour Simon Gagné et Jeff Carter

Qu'en pensez-vous ?''

Well, Souray himself said that Rivet, Markov and himself were free agents and that likely not all three would be kept. He also stated in an interview that he loves MTL, but from a personal standpoint he would like to be closer to his daughter. He said this to Matt Brunet in La Presse last week.

Reading between the lines, it means he is flying the coup.

Can't believe we would go after Poti when I believe Danny Markov could be had for the exact same price....if the figures in that rumor are correct.....

The first one makes a bit of sense but the other is right out of NHL 2006. Weiss is like a Ribeiro but a notch better in every aspect... but still, while Ribeiro is soft as diarreah, Weiss is only slightly grittier. Difference is, Weiss has a tendancy to break in half.

Does a player not have to actually play physically in order to bring a physical presence? If not, the Habs should sign Yao Ming and trot gim out on the blueline - talk about a "physical presence". He could be the first two sport hockey-basketaball player

Diarrhea can be gritty too, you know, especially if you eat sand.

the 1st one is not too bad value wise but i would be surprised if Weiss is on the market, he did play very well against us so i can see us being interested

the 2nd one is worst than the proposals we see on here

Reeks of desperation on part of Bob Gainey...

Danny Markov would be a better option...

Poti is every bit as good as Souray if you like your defencemen to be *******. We get a helluva lot wimpier with that exchange, and just a little better orffensively.

Such a deal would make more sense if Gainey can indeed trade Souray and Aebischer for Weiss, deal Ribs for a second round pick, bonk for a third, and then sign Laraque to replace Souray's toughness.

Higgins Koivu Ryder
Kosty Weiss Kovy
Perez Pleky Zednik
Begin Murray Laraque

Markov Komo
Rivet Poti
Cube Dandy
Streit

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gainey go after Weiss; ssemed like every big goal he scored last season was against the Habs...remember? Sort of like milwaukee getting Charlie V after popping 48 points against them in a game last season.

I've always read that he's faily physical. Never have I heard him described as soft but I guess I was wrong!

Basically because evry discussion forum has always listed him as a guy they just had to get rid of. Radio guys talk of him being untadeable, hot stove guys bad mouth him. He could be solid, I don't get paid to evaluate players, but he's one of those guys that you never hear a good word about.

If Clarke would do that, I'd personally go to Philladelphie and give him a big french kiss.
