Siarhei Kostitsyn on loan

Siarhei Kostitsyn has been loaned to HK Gomel of the EEHL, his former team. The strange part is that it's listed as only a 3 month loan. I don't know anymore details, like when the loan starts and finishes. London's season starts on Sept 22nd, so if the loan starts now it would likely end right around the Knights season opener.

Also right above Kostitsyn's loan they have Konstantin Korneev and his transfer to CSKA. I hear about Korneev leaving AK Bars and going to CSKA weeks ago, so perhaps the Kostitsyn news is a couple weeks old cause it's cutting really close to the start of the season.

Great, now that he's back there he may never come back. Awesome.

Holy overreaction batman. From all indications, he had a great time playing in London.

Getting in an extra 3 months of playing time during the North American off-season seems like a fine move to me.

Wouldn't he then have his pants sued right off of him by the London Knights cause he's still under contract?

Also, why loan him during the offseason? Is the hockey season going on there right now or something??

That's sad 'cause I was really expecting to see him at the development camp whenever and wherever it will be.....

No not sure when it starts. Likely around the start of september. But I know Russian teams start working out soon with tournaments here and there in August.

About Korneev, he is really on CSKA Moscow roster and on the front page they list him in the player who come to the team

I'm not Dan (well actually my name is Dan, but I'm not *the Dan* you're referring to), but I can shed a little light on the situation (though I don't have an answer myself).

The question lies in this:

If a player comes over to the CHL before he is drafted, he falls under the rules of a North American drafted player type-of-thing, meaning he'd need to be 20 to play in the AHL, so S.K. wouldn't be able to.

However, Sergei only made the transition to North America after being drafted, so I and others are unsure if this makes the rule different for him.

Perhaps the real Dan knows.

I guess he can, Niklas Bergford was drafted by NJ then drafted by St. John's Fog Devils then accepted to play for them, then signed with NJ and played in AHL at 18

I've wrote to the guy who put that transfer about Sergei Kostitsyn, here is his answer:

he signed a "summer" contract with Gomel basically to play Belarussian Cup
starting in august. I think this deal is a kind of "holyday at home playing
hockey"....
