I'd be happy with Carter. Play him with Jeff Carter then sign prospect (or former prospect) John Carter just to have all three play on the same line.

Signing him is a terrible idea. He only did well with the Nucks, because of the Sedin twins. Those guys are playmakers and that's something the Flyers lack.

Well he'd get similar talent to play with like he did in Vancouver. If they weren't rookies last year, I'd say Carter and Umberger would be around on par with the Sedins

You'd be wrong. Obviously Carter's upside is much higher than either of the Sedins, but at this moment both the Sedins are superior players to Carter. Umberger is laughable.

It's not out of the question to think he would put up similar numbers with those guys than he did with the Sedins. That doesn't mean they're better.

I agree, not out of the question, but doubtful. I just don't see that line clicking, there would be no playmaker and three goal scorers. Henrik Sedin is one of the best young playmakers out there, he's the one who made that line go, not Anson Carter or Daniel Sedin. Jeff Carter is a sniper in his second NHL season, he needs someone who can pass and/or skate with him, not Anson Carter. Likewise, Anson Carter needs a better playmaker than a 2nd year Jeff Carter to be successful.

You said Carter and Umberger were roughly on par with the Sedins, that's pretty ridiculous.

They're not on par, but next season they should have close to the same production

You expect 70+ points from Umberger? Jeff Carter maybe, but very doubtful for Umberger. Besides, the Sedins should improve on their point totals, perhaps into the 80+ range. I don't see how you view their production as anywhere near "close."

Carter would work out fine

We need some dreadlocks on the team. The guy can bury the biscuit, very high shooting percentage, and as much as you guys have bragged up those soft swedes(sedins), they obviously did not score his goals for him. And isn't it about time the sedins started producing, they have been in Vancouver for several seasons, and for almost there entire carear, they have been underacheving.

We have a few playmakers and have several more coming down the pipeline who will be playing in the NHL soon.

how are they going to improve? With the loss of Bert and a few of your dmen, they are going to checked closer and unless they play with NAslund ( one line team then) they anrt going to have a player to dish to. Umberger may have decent numbers once Foppa gets back.

If Anson Carter is NOT playing with Umberger/Carter I do not mind this signing. The team needed a goal scorer to play with Richards who is a decent playmaker, assuming the top line of Forsberg/Gagne/Knuble stays together once Forsberg comes back. You can also flip A Carter and Knuble around since Knuble seemed to play pretty well with RIchards, but I rather do the former.

A Carter does NOT fit with Umberger and Carter. He is a finisher where as that line needs a playmaker/passer. He also has not been known as a guy that works very hard all the time.

I rather go with the forward group we have now until Forsberg comes back. The young guys shoudl be much better after a year in the league. Spend some money on D cause those signing were pathetic.

I would consider JR for one year on Carter, Umberger line. (assuming he is training like he says he is) Risky move tough but very cheap. Hatcher and JR on one team probably a no go.
Carter is a dog.

He's saying that its laughable to think that Umberger will produce as much this year as the Sedins did last year. I pretty much agree.

I am not sure if this has been posted but Spector is reporting that St. Louis is after A. Carter and Shanahan after signing Doug Weight.

HADLEYONSPORTS.COM REPORTS THE ST. LOUIS BLUES HAVE SIGNED CENTRE DOUG WEIGHT. DETAILS TO FOLLOW.

Spector's Note: Hadley also claims the Blues are pursuing Brendan Shanahan and Anson Carter. Weight's contract is said to be a two-year, $7 million contract.

Is there any link stating that the Flyers offered a contract to Carter?

i like anson but im not real thrilled about this news. i was really hoping we could squeeze in samsonov as he is really the only player on the market who fits the bill of what we need on the second line.
