Vancouver - Montreal trade inquiry

With Vancouver looking for a RW to replace Bertuzzi or Carter on the top two lines, what would the Habs want from the Canucks in exchange for Zednik or Ryder?

We need a 2nd line C or a Dman
Since i doubt you would trade dmen, and I know you guys are trying to dump Morrison.

What is his contract worth?? How long is he signed.

Let me know and then I'll put together a package, based on his value.

Not sure but Ryder would take a lot more then Zednik that is for sure.

The Habs' one real need is a good scorer to use as a top-6 Center or LW. Zednik may be affordable, but Ryder will need a really good offer as a young 30-goal scorer is a valuable asset.

I'd imagine the Habs are quite willing to take on salary for an upgrade if a team (like perhaps Vancouver?) needs to make cap room.

Well in your NHL team, I like Salo, Ohlund, and Kesler

As far as your propects goes, I would like Edler, King, or Burrows

But if you insist, sure I'll take Bourdon....

I doubt the habs go for that. Zednik for Morrisson is a much more likely basis for a trade.

I know there is a vocal, but very small group on HF that wants to dump Morrison, but I not one of them and I doubt Nonis is either. Morrison is signed for $3.2 million per season for the next two seasons & Vancouver would be hard pressed to replace him for that salary. Likely, if the Canucks trade anything it will likely be either goalie prospects (we have Schnieder, Ellis, Ouelette, Mensator, Violin & Vincent all developing quite nicely) or draft picks (we have a number of spare 2nds in 2007). Likely the team will fill the RW vacancies from within (Carter?, Cooke, Linden, Kesler, King, Balej, Schultz, Hansen, Shirokov) as Cap space is running out, but I think Nonis will feel more comforable if he can get at least one more experienced RW capable in playing with either the Sedins or Morrison & Naslund.

I hope Ryder is not available. Monday i saw the classic series on NHL network when we beat boston in 7 and even though he didnt score in that series, Ryder was everywhere. I cant believe the Ryder we saw this year was the real Ryder. I know he was injured but i also think he wasnt in the best shape of his career. The real Ryder will step up next year.

Well we are well stocked at goalie both in the pros and at the prospect level as well so i doubt Montreal would want any of yours (Price, Halak, Danis, Heino, Lacasse, to go along with Aebischer and Huet).

For Ryder we would demand a high end prospect (ie a Kesler) or a defenceman (Salo). We would probably add picks lesser prospects your way to even it out though.

Morrison + 2nd round for Ryder + Ribeiro is doable if you are willing to give him up.

As far as Zednick goes I personally like him, but i bet alot of habs fans would give him up for a 2nd rounder. (not me though, i think he can bounce back as i think his poor season was due to the groin pull never fully healing)

King would be the easiest of the three to trade for the Canucks. He would be a perfect fit for the Sedins, but seems to play better on the left side while Balej, Hansen and Schultz are natural RW's. The Canucks problem is they have lots of talented forwards developing, but they are really about a year away & using them this season could hurt their development. Even their quality Russian players (Koltsov & Chubarov) have said they want to play for the Canucks next year rather than this season.

We really couldn't burdon the Habs with Bourdon (pun)

sounds great! i would love to deal zednik for King. king has some potential, he could be given a chanve in out top 6, but likely he could play the third line. we still need to improve at least our C or LW and vancouver cant help much. Zednik is likely not to figure in our plans, so if we can turn him over for king, that would help vancover and give us a younger guy with some potential.

Brendan is an upgrade, but not as much as you'd think. We'd still have size issues.

With Brendan's skating and overall game, he would be a huge upgrade over Ribeiro.

Morrison's contract at 3.2 + Rookie at 750K is about equal to Ribeiro + Zednick.
