Letowski at 800k is a great signing. Rutherford strikes again.

great signing. this guy was a pred killer in Columbus. Glad he's out of our division.

It seemed like he'd always break 20+ game goal scoring slumps against us.

Good PK-energy guy.

Very typical Rutherford signing. If I'm going by Rutherford's profile, he is an underrated player who plays a defensive role on another team, but could breakout offensively in a faster, well-coached system. Sounds similar to the Matt Cullen signing, he could be a potential bargain for the 'Canes.

GO CANES!!

Great signing. A lot of us CBJ fans wanted to keep this guy in the fold but his roster spot was needed to give some of the kids room to grow (Fritsche) and to trim the payroll.

The thing I'll always remember about Trevor. For a guy his size, he can sure take a hit. Also great on the PK, competes hard every night and is probably good for 10 - 15 goals 30-35 points.

Letowski is a good signing. I assume he'll be mixed in on the bottom two lines with guys like K. Adams, C. Adams, Larose and Vasicek.

He'll probably start out on the third line with Whitney and Vasicek. If things don't work out he may switch things up with Chad LaRose and end up playing with the Adams' on the fourth line.

If Whitney is on the 3rd line, who plays LW on the top 2 lines? Stillman and Ladd? Or is it Stillman and Cole? I know some of these guys can play the off-wing even though they're all left-handed shots, so I get confused.

Stillman and Ladd.

The way things look right now:

Stillman - Staal - Cole
Ladd - Brind'amour - Williams
Whitney - Vasicek - Letowski/LaRose
C. Adams - K. Adams - Letowski/LaRose

Great signing by the Canes. I think Trevor will fit in well on the 3rd or 4th line and he will especially help on the PK. I can't believe we let this guy walk...

My opinion:

Whitney-Staal-Cole
Stillman-Brind'Amour-Williams
Ladd-Vasicek-Letowski
Adams-Adams-LaRose

We're looking at two scoring lines, a defensive/checking line with a fair amount of offensive potential, and an energy line IMO.

I think Stillman will be back on the top line with Staal and Cole. They were incredible together. Absolutely tearing it up after the break until Cole got hurt. I think the second line will be Ladd-Brind'amour-Williams with Whitney moving back to the third line with Vasicek and Letowski. The grinding line is, of course, the same.

If you consider that a defensive/checking line the Canes are in serious trouble. Ladd was a rookie who is still learning the defensive side of the game but yes he can check. Vasicek as big as he is may be the softest player in the game and has never been known for defense. Letowski while small will throw his body around and can play defense. So if this is a defensive/checking line, we're missing 2/3 of it.

Ummm.............pardon me, but you don't know what you're talking about. Ladd is more than competent both defensively and in the hitting department. His offensive game is what needs work.

As for Vasicek, I assume you're just caught up in the whipping boy junk. He is and always has been a VERY responsible defensive forward. To say otherwise is ignorant.

I don't mean to offend you but I'm sick and god damn tired of every thread turning into someone's opportunity to trash this guy. Let's see how YOU do with a shredded knee.

Sorry, mods didn't mean to blow up the Letowski thread.

Defensive/Cheking line are overrated anyway. Brind'Amour line can easily play against other team top line. In the playoffs Habs third line was Perezhogin/Plekanec/Zednik and was the best line for the Habs after Koivu went down i think Dobermann can agree with this.

The Hurricanes don't really use the classic 'checking' line. The 4th line is an energy line they usually put out after goals and any time momentum may be needed. If you HAD to label a line as defensive it would be Brind'Amour's line but even then I've rarely seen the Cane's try to play line matchups.

Funny how friction starts when non-Canes fans visit these boards. I hate the Internet.
