Right now? Craig Rivet

5-6-7 years time? Chris Higgins, or someone else who may come along

How about Steve Begin? I know he doesn't have all the scoring talent but he's a perfect example for everyone else!

Mike Komisarek long term...
Gotta go with the consensus Craig Rivet if it were short term (immediately) however I dont think it'll be anytime soon (hopefully)

If everything goes well with Koivu and he retires in around 5 years, I would say Chipchura.

3 Assistant this year. But my choice is Rivet if Koivu retire. Chipchura will be our long term captain.

I've nothing against Begin but in playoff with Koivu we win two game and Begin remplace Koivu and we lost 4...

I'd be tempted to go with Souray right now, just because he's a better player than Rivet. Seems like most of the time guys who get the C are one of the best player on the team, and usually leaders in the room too. The habs don't really have one guy who stands out like Koivu does at the moment, but I think Souray comes closest. Rivet is a close second.

Maybe it's better if I put it this way: I think Rivet deserves it, but I think Souray would be the guy who actually ends up getting it.

Future is confusing, with Chipchura, Higgins and Komisarek all looking like potential candidates. Personally I think Chipchura has the best shot, but it's really a crapshoot.

Souray for the present, but I'd see Higgins for the future.

Is there really some kind of other possibility? We haven't any kind of leader since Doug Gilmour!
