Belfour Passes Physical

Goaltender Ed Belfour passed his phyiscal today and signed a contract with a low base salary backloaded with incentives, according to Sportsnet.

I wasn't able to catch who it was with, but I'm assuming Detroit.

I'd read he passed his physical. But nothing about the contract ... nothing on TSN or Sportsnet websites.

Nope, you're right.

I caught the wrong end of the ticker.

He did pass his physical and it's "expected" Detroit will sign him, as per:

Belfour was the scapegoat of a bad toronto hockey team last year. He could still put up MVP numbers but I think the chances are 15 percent MVP... 35 percent solid number 1 goalie and 50 percent BUST CITY.

I remember when he went to Toronto and people were calling Belfour a bust. I say we see if he can play before we consider him a bust.

Eddie's going to surprise a lot of people next season.

Never count the Eagle out. People thought he was done four years ago.

Yeah... scapegoat. Goaltending was by far our biggest concern last year. Belfour was our goaltender.

Toronto's defence was hardly stellar last year, but its not as if Eddie was losing 2-1 and 3-1 games. He was getting filled half the time, and gave up tons of soft goals. He sucked last year plain and simple. Dont know if he can regain his form again or not, my guess is not.

This guy, if he signs, better rebound. Just the fact that Detroit is even considering him, let alone going the extra mile to give him a physical, makes me want to

He wasn't the scapegoat. He was one of many.

From what I watched on HNIC the few wins the leafs had was because of Eddy stealing the game. He didn't play well at the end of the season but that could ahve been because his injury or didnt care because they were not not making the playoffs anyways.
