If he got a $1 million or over, there is something wrong in the NHL.

no there isn't. Most every player has signed over what people expected. I think he will get around 1.2 a year.

Gets to play Forsberg now too, his old "friend."

Ew. That is way too close to what Cooke makes.

Seems like Vancouver is losing alot of their players, wonder how it will affect their play as a team in the coming season.

Protection for Crosby if Pittsburgh plays against Calgary and Phaneuf.

and that's exactly what Baumer got this season - on a 2yr deal.

I wouldnt' be surprised to see Ruutu get that as well... although it's overpayment IMO, but really so are nearly all the contracts signed this offseason!

I knew Ruutu wouldn't be back... he would get more on the market than he's worth for the canucks.

whatever... can't really worry about a team that missed the playoffs and looked as bad as the canucks did last season... any change can only be good change, because that team has no heart, no determination, and were just playing through the motions all year long.

odd that I'd bring that up in a Ruutu thread, since he seemed to be one of the few players that actually worked hard for us... but still he's an average bottom 6er that does some things really well, and others not so well... I don't think he'll be too missed at all... Burrows and Cooke more than make up for all the intangibles that Ruutu brought us anyways.

I'm quite pleased to have this annoying, effective aggitator out of the West.

I'm also quite pleased that his bizarre, troll-like visage won't be defacing my TV during the late game every Saturday.

Uhm.

That's kind of the point. We didn't like where our current core had taken us, so we needed to shake it up. Wouldn't be much of a shake-up if all the same players came back.

Plus Ruutu is not exactly a signifigant loss. We have so many agitators waiting to get onto the team it's a bit ridiculous.

I look forward to seeing if he's mastered the Phaneufian knee-hook pratfall technique.

Great.
Did I just hear Jagr's head smash against the boards again, or was that in my mind?

they are adding quality depth to there 3rd and 4th lines, thats what they need with a budding team like malkin, crosby and staal in play... smart move... now they could use some, um, defense maybe? Eaton isnt a improvement on defense over many probably on the team, thus they need to make a pitch for another defensemen badly

Crap, and I have been saying from months I'm glad those West Coast theatrics (Rutuu, Avery, and others) weren't in the Eastern Conference. Dammit!

yeah like booing Jagr was not enough. Now Jagr will have to face Witt and Ruutu 8 games each
