So then we have 3 former Guelph players in Brown, Dallman and Matt Ryan.

Here's what's left of my defenseman list from the thread a few days ago (as far as I know).

Lots of depth defensemen there.

The Guelph Storm Connection!

I've been keeping track of all the recent acquisitions. Dallman, Ryan, Willsie, Brown, and Cloutier all played for Guelph! It would be great to see all of them on the ice together in an NHL game!

Maybe, maybe not. From today's Union Leader:

“Buckley is a banger who plays physical and Dallman is a good puck-moving defenseman,” said McDonough. “These two guys will help stabilized our defense which is going to be young this coming season in Manchester.”

The Bruins couldn't get Dallamn to the AHL last season and I suspect it will be difficult for the Kings to do it this season...

Good. Weaver probably stands as the #7 in LA unless Sopel stays and they decide to keep Petiot up.

Who are the other young D men expected in Manchester..? Mormina? Harrold?

Gabe Gauthier is actually a forward, unless you had another Gauthier in mind.

My bad... Thanks for pointing it out. But now that I've converted him to defense, if he can put up similar numbers to what he did at DU I should win GM for a day or something wouldn't you think?

Yes, but at almost 30 with about 460 AHL games palyed (regular season & playoffs) I don't consider him to be a young defenseman which is what I was responding to...

As the Kings stand now it's

Blake-Gleason
Norstrom-Visnovsky
Miller-Sopel
Weaver

If Petiot makes the team, then Weaver goes down and Manchester d consists of...

Mormina
Weaver
Buckley
Dallman
Harrold

Thought I read that article that said the Kings informed Sopel he was no longer part of there plans and they planned to trade or buy him out. Someone around here posted it...either here or on LGK...Maybe it was just a rumor...

Dallman and Weaver is where things get interesting for the Kings. Both of them will need to pass through waivers to get to Manchester. The Bruins tried to get Dallman through last season and he was claimed by St. Louis. From an asset management standpoint, the Kings will need to move one of Blake, Gleason, Norstrom, Visnovsky, Miller or Sopel and create a spot for Petiot. You don't risk cutting your depth by placing a guy on waivers so that you can keep a guy that doesn't need to pass through waivers on the 23-man roster as a 7th defenseman. You just don't do it unless it's absolutely necessary. I don't see that it is at this point...

You pretty much have to assume that either Weaver or Dallman won't clear waivers and that your going to lose which ever one you try to send down. You can increase your odds of getting them through by sending them out of camp early, while other teams are still relatively healthy and continue to evaluate there own players. The low demand period if you will...

Petiot can move up and down without passing through waivers. Send him to Manchester late out of camp and if he's needed, bring him back up...
