At least it doesn't involve Malkin....but why would Pittsburgh do this? They lack goal scoring wingers so they give up a guy who has back to back 22 goal seasons and another guy who could be a good scorer if he can become more consistent (Ouellet scored 16 goals and 32 points in 50 games last year but 10 of those goals came in a ten game span) for a guy with bum knees, a goalie they don't need and other prospect depth/picks which they already have enough of. I don't see the Penguins having any reason to do this deal.

I think Toronto would do that in a heartbeat, they'd put Malone on the wing alongside Sundin and be happy Trots, but for the Life of me I cant see why would Pittsburgh want that collection of wannabes and never weres. can you explain please?

The Pens don't need any of those players and cannot afford to lose two scoring wingers. No thanks.

Pens have no reason to move a guy who has scored 44 goals in his first 2 years..... including 8 Short Handed goals.

From a Toronto perspective, no thanks. Not interested at all, we give up way to much.

This doesn't really make any sense for the Pens.

If I was a Leafs fan it would be a for sure yes. They arent really giving away anything of value.

From a Pens fan stand point I would say no..those are two young players that have the potential to become 20-30 goal scorers one day.

Just curious, why do Leaf fans value Tellqvist so high?

Antropov is a joke of a player and the Pens don't need a backup goalie or mediocre prospect depth or late round picks.

The Pens do need young scoring wingers and they'd be giving up two of them.

A BIG no from the Pens.

from a Toronto point of view, we give up nothing really ...Antropov for Malone almost went down last year ...then Antro got hurt yet again.
As for the rest ...Telly is a backup, and will never be a 'quality' starter, but is a good backup, Bell is one of those who is close, but can either have a 10 year career, or never make it ...5th rounder means nothing really, a crap shoot.

Malone has been in and out of the Pitt doghouse for whatever reason (i have no idea) ...Ouellet slow development ...similar to Suglobov that prob wont make the leafs and has bust written all over him. (Suglobov that is)

...deal is nothing more than a fresh start for a few players ...doesnt hurt either team, and could help both.

I'm sorry, but this deal definitely hurts the Pens and offers no chance of helping them.

Malone has scored 44 goals in his first two seasons. Antropov has scored 60 in his first 5 (I'm not counting 01-02). Antropov is a big slow pivot while the Pens have need for scoring wingers. While it's true Malone played some C last year, he's very likely moving back to the wing this year. Malone also has displayed tremendous ability to score shorthanded and is a hometown guy.

If you want Malone, you'd have to offer up something considerably more valuable than a bust and a bunch of spare parts.

Why would Pittsburgh do this?
We don't need an underachiever in Antropov.
Malone is better than Antropov.
We don't need another goaltender, especially not another back-up goaltender.
We have alot 2nd-tier prospects like Bell. So no thanks.
And what's a 5th round pick worth.

So definetely a No.

Yeah, it's not like the Leafs need scoring wingers or anything.

Telly and Bell are expendable for the Leafs, so I see no reason why they wouldn't do this. Similarly I don't see why Pittsburgh would bother unless they have a scout ranting and raving about one of those three guys' amazing upside potential.

No! we don't need more injury prone players (Melichar, Leclair), we dont need any goalies (Fleury, Thibault), we don't need Bell and a 5th..we don't wanna give up 2 goal scorrers although Ouellet is kinda slow... We are worse with this deal, not better while the Leafs become better...a 1st liner for Sundin, and a 3rd/4th liner for you guys aswell.

I use the point that fans of teams other than Pittsburgh and Toronto (which removes the bias) are saying that the Pens would have no interest in such a deal as a pretty good gauge that this deal favors Toronto....heavily.

Pittsburgh, as stated above has no use for any of the above players.

I'd agree with that assessment. Toronto gets rid of some dead weight and makes off like bandits.
