Next Years Defense Pairings

a little early but what the ....

Kasper- Tyutin
Malik - Rachunek
Ward- Rossival

Ozolinsh/Pock/Strudwick/Staal

Not a bad Defense. Second year under Rennys watch, two good additions.

Could it be that Ward is the guy they bring in to pair with Ozolinsh to help offset his Defense lapses?

This D still doesn't offer much offensive threat except for Ozo. I'm guessing we would have heard by now if his off-ice issues would be cause for suspension. Despite his lame D moves last year he does have some nice O skills. I've heard he may be needing knee surgery, so maybe that settles his fate for a while. I also know he'll have to redeem himself, but NY loves a comeback

I expect it will be unlikely for Staal to make the team this year, but I'm a glass half full kind of guy so I hope he does, but understand he should not be rushed.

Maybe I'm kind of old school, but I want that DOMINANT D man ( D oriented or O oriented) to keystone the defense. I like what we have, but I'm not sure I love it.

Is there another move coming? Or is this it?

I see (in no order)

Kasper-Rachunek
Malik-Rossival
Ward-Tyutin

But if Renney keeps Toots and Kaspar together I wouldnt object for a second.

I would hope Rachunek will add a trite more offense to that back-end, especially on the powerplay.

Well he is a right handed shot we need. I dream of a defense without Roszival.

Malik-Rachunek
Tyutin-Kaspar
Ward-Pock

Am i the only one who sees this corps as lackluster. Except for Tyutin and Kaspar, the other two pairs, look okay at best, the reason we got Ozo was to spark up the Defense (terrible move).
I guess I see where you are coming from with the defense without roszival, but then who are you gonna get to pair up that well with Malik, i couldnt imagine Rachunek.

To start the season I see...

Malik Rozsival
Tyutin Rachunek
Staal Ward

Pock as the extra with Kaspar on IR

I've said it before and I'll say it again, (i do get accused by many of repeating myself in every post so why stop now) Kaspar will not be in the opening night lineup.

I just don't see a guy that has had a long history of injuries being able to start camp and the season on time after his two surgeries.

This gives Staal a chance to break in and perhaps stay until after Kaspar comes back. Having depth on defense is the most overlooked quality the Rangers have right now. That has been upgraded with the additions of Rachunek and Ward.

You sure about Ward, he actually throws his body around a bit?

I'm fully aware, I was being sarcastic. He's one of those who seemingly bashes each and every post I make because I want a tougher player, so I thought he may be a little too tough.

I want tougher players as well...I just want good tough players not guys who can only fight.

I think a tough player isn't just somebody that can hit and fight..

I think a tough player is one who can get hit and get back up (see straka prucha rozsvial and hossa.)

You make a good point. I know the surgery that KAsper had 1st hand. yeah you can come back in 8 weeks, but you are not 100%. Think more 12-14 weeks and then you are closer to being a 100% when you return. I think there is a window of opportunity for Staal to audition for a half dozen or so games early in the season while Kasper is still rehabbing. It will give us all preseason plus some NHL games to get a handle on where Staal is.

I think that would be an ideal situation for the organization and Staal.

I completely agree, maybe we just see it differently because I don't put Rozival and Hossa in that class, Prucha I do, Straka I do
