Brashear interested in habs, Gainey says no

Brashear had an interview with la presse in which he claims that he sent a fax to Gainey for his interest to pursue his career with the habs. 10 mins after the interview.... Gainey called him and said he wasn't interested in signing players like him.

Article only in french...

I know it's only cyberpresse but I guess it's reliable.

cyberpresse is very reliable...we could've use a Brashear but takes the spot of a young guy.

I don't think we needed him... We have Murray and Downey.

Maybe he could teach Downey how to fight

On another note, I don't think we needed a brashear last near, nor we need one for the near future. I would have taken him with open arms before that though.

It's clear that:

1-We will go with the rookie
or
2-We will take 1-2 good veteran to help our young guys even more.

For Aaron Downey:

His fight with Worrell

Gainey says no to Brashear!

Forget a heavyweight for the next season, it looks like Gainey is fine with the grinders in place.

Rough translation of the most pertinent parts:

Brashear sent a fax to Gainey stating his interest in joining the team for next season. Gainey replied saying the Canadiens weren't interested in a "player like him".
In an interview conducted with La Presse before he got the call from Gainey, Brashear says that he always dreamed of playing with somebody like Steve Begin, and that the Habs are a good team with a good goalie and good defence. They're a team that can win, and he wants to play for a team that can win. He also said the media pressure didn't bother him and there was just as much media when he was in Philadelphia and Vancouver.

Hmmm... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1nRj...ch=brashear%20

I like how he called out Laracque too. He's too big and strong for us though. No room in the Honda for Donald.

Man, I wish we could sign Godard, the guy is just waiting.
Even if we have Downey, i mean Godard is a legit heavy weight and can play. Downey is more of an energy guy and he is too short to fight.

Anyone notice Downey's third fight in that clip is against Norton, the same player he danced with this past season (Norton was on Ottawa this past season though)?
