Why's that? One could sell a Rolex much easier and get the cash that way.

Sure, but there are many other things that he could potentially trade it for then, why limit it to a rolex?

Why sell it in the first place? Anyone can buy a watch, but a friggin Stanley Cup ring is hard to come by.

Look at the pic.. it says "staff" on the ring. Don't ask me how it ended up in Sweden, but I doubt that it's Modin's personal SC ring.

Beautiful piece of work btw.

No idea. If I won one (which would be odd since I never played icehockey, and probably spent about 2 hours skating in an icerink my entire life ) it would take a LOT for me to even consider selling it. And seriously, we're probably talking at least a million SEK.

As joe89 has already pointed out, it's a staff ring, just like the overwhelming majority of Cup rings that have found their way on to the market. I know that if I got a Stanley Cup ring for being a scout or equipment manager or something like that, I wouldn't hesitate selling it if I could get 50k for it.

I remember that one of the Swedish posters on here bought himself two Stanley Cup rings a while ago, might be him that is selling one of them.

I don't know but isn't the name Tod Hess on the Plaque ("Hess" is on the ring too)? There is a guy who got "ACF Tampa Bay Culinary Association" as interest on Facebook, could be him (nothing about hockey on him though).

Who the hell is Tod Hess? I did a google search on him but got nothing. I thought the eligibility for getting a ring was limited to those staff members who actually contributed to the team's ultimate victory, while the team chauffeur and the like were excluded.
