Bouwmeester put up 3 less pts than Rafalski who's getting $4.2 million next season. He logged an average of 25 and a half mins a game (10th highest in the league amongst d-men) while playing all 82 games this past season...almost identical to what Rafalski. While Bouwmeester asking for that amount last summer was crazy, this summer its not so much.

Van Ryn had just 1 point less than Kubina who's making $5 million next season. He averaged 22 and a half mins a game (44th highest in the league), playing in 80 games...also resembling Kubina's numbers. Van Ryn's had 2 straight seasons with 37 pts and ranked among the top 40 defenders in goals, assists and points last season. I haven't seen anywhere that's he's hinted at or rumored to be asking for that amount though.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully you get Bouwmeester for more than a 1 year contract for that kind of money.

That would be nice, but I'd be willing to bet Bouwmeester's camp is going to ask for a 1 year deal at about that rate in hopes of improving even further to try to warrant a 5+ million contract. Granted, that asumes that he does improve even more to deserve that.

Auld will be alright as a starter.

Averaging 30 Shots a game, and with Bowwy and Van Ryan and Salei in front of him, I don't think Keenan needs to ship out a dman for Nabby or Vesa. His defense should be able to support any goalie in net.
