Sykora In? Team 990 discussing, I'm Unsure if True

Hi,

I was listening to the Team 990 and they were talking as if we signed Sykora, but I can't find anything on the net yet. DId anyone hear what they were saying prior to 8:15, as I only caught the end of the discussion and I wasn't sure it was official or fantasy.

Mike

I didn't saw anything on the subject and if we did sign him, I don't know how I will take it...

He's a consistent 20 goal scorer and seem to have one good season every two years.

Might be a good addition if the price is right...

Would be a typical post-93 Habs move if true.

Ugh i hope we don't sign him. We don't need more soft european "skilled players". We need grit and leadership.

Not sure how I feel about Sykora. He would bring more experience to our forward group but is it worth it?

I would rather give the chance to a kid... Sykora isnt what we need, we already have some highly skilled kids close to make the jump... Sykora isnt the fastest neither the toughest player..

If the price is right, lets do it.

He's been counted on over the course of his career to score around 25 goals per season and he's pulled though.

No more than 2.5-3mil per season and I'd jump on it

I don't see what Sykora brings that Zednik doesn't have really. Similar players and similar points to expect each year.

Sykora has more creativity for sure! And he plays with his two hands on his stick...

Oh yea, so we can expect 50% more goals I guess from him..

I'm sick of all the euro pasta-like players. I want a tough rugged winger ala Cole to bang up the boards and put some in the net.

I think it's clear that Sykora is by far a deffinite upgrade over Zednik, if you're looking at the numbers. He's got more playoff experience, has one a cup or two etc.

Is he what we need? No. But if we can get rid of Zed, then I don't see the problem.

I would be more annoyed at your posts but when I imagine Steven Seagal saying them in his horrible wooden acting style the unintentional comedy factor makes them fun to read.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sykora signed now that Sundstrom, Bulis and (possibly) Zednik are gone. I hope we don't sign him for too much, but put him on the second line, or a line with Perezhogin and Plekanec, and he might start producing like he used to.

So Sykora has netted an avg of 10 more pts per season than zednik the past 3 seasons.. not a great upgrade. And he's the same type of player. Bit faster and skilled but he wouldn't bring much to the table that would help the habs get better.

It was just speculation, seeing as how Sykora's one of the bigger names of the remaining UFA's.

Sykora would be a definate upgrade to Zednik, we need someone that can produce more then the 30 points he gave us last year.

It's unfair to bash Zednik like that, he played 67gp and he was hampered by a leg injury all year.

Sykora is a def upgrade on Zednik. He also has a better a playoff history, even if Zed's isn't all that bad.

If we can land Lang for Zednik and sign Sykora, we are a better team.
