1999 Draft??

I loved the thoughts on the 2002 draft Re-Do...I wonder what your thoughts would be on the 1999 draft as a re-do....Noone from that draft has really established themselves as the clear cut front runner from that year (Jackman, Havlat maybe?).

Havlat would probably be #1 right now, Jackman #2 based on performance.

Ahhh Ryan Miller was another one I forgot. Definatley a top five that year IMO.
Pretty good list (although Koltsov gets no love)>
Isnt it funny how far back Stefan has fallen thus far?

I like Koltsov, but it'd be hard to place him above anyone on that list.

If I was a Yotes fan, I'd be pissed Tanabe & Radivojevic isn't ranked higher. Both of them should be ranked right outside of the top 11 in this order. Your ranking of the final 10 are a bit misguided.

How can you rank Rita ahead of Sedin, Connolly, Kaberle, Pyatt, & Stefan

Rita has done jack squat, where the other players have had a regular shift with an NHL team for a at least 2 years.

I was going to say the same thing. At this point he may not even make the NHL. He's really overrated.

these guys are still young enough to be considered a work in progress. The list isnt perfect by any means. Nor will we be able to tell for years. So in answer to your question, potential is why I rated him higher.Who knows where he will end up. Just a gut feeling.
If y'all get time post your list. Id be interested to see it.

Neither has Lehtonen yet he is consistently ranked among the top prospects. And we all know the only reason he isnt in the NHL...I think as of right now he has the biggest upside of anyone in this draft.

Anyone who does not have Havlat number 1 at this point has no credibility IMO. It is Havlat, Jackman, Boynton, Comrie the Sedins and Zetterberg IMO. Rita should in no way be considered in the top 5, and arguably not in the top 10 either. I am sick of talking about upside. Let's talk reality and what players are most likely to achieve. Upside is irrelevant.

To the guy who said that Ahonen get no respect :
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...id%5B%5D=45127

His save % and GAA are bad .. guys like Miller , Prusek , Ouellet and Caron are better than him and by far .

Based on what we've seen in five years since the draft was held in Boston, I think that the Class of '99 will go down in history as one of the weaker crops compared to the hype that preceded it.

There is still some time left, but a lot of these guys just haven't panned out, and it's looking more and more like they never will.

The class of 2000 on the other hand...what an outstanding group of players! Look at all the guys from the first round alone who are not only impact players on their teams, but in many cases, are carrying the mail.
