Can someone give me some feeds on how Roussin is doing today! Tried to call him last night but wasn't able!!
I can only tell you that yesterday I was embarrassed for him. His play was so sub-par it was almost painful to watch. His play in the defensive zone was non-existant. He was getting beat regulary and he had absolutley ZERO offensive flair. Horrible. I seriously felt bad for the kid.

that Sidney Crosby kid must've been pretty good then, huh?

Hope he did a little bit better today!! Damn thats not cool!! Think I'm gonna have a little pep talk with him tonight if I'm able to reach him!!
I think we have a difference of 3 hours between Cali and Quebec!!

I was there and just got back...to work, so I can't post much.
I will just say that I feel good about Jonathan Bernier with pick #11. I don't think I've ever seen a 17 year old goalie with such athleticism, quickness, and skill. That said, I haven't seen too many goalies under 18...but he looks phenomenal.
I was in a small group of fans in which Al Murray stopped by to chat with. We were able to ask a few questions. Nothing Earth shattering learned, but from what I recollect:
"how's Boyle's skating?" AM - "It has really improved the last few years. He used to fall down 30 times a game as a Freshman and last year he was knocking everyone down"
Niclas Andersen? AM "Niclas is skating better than when we saw him last. He really stays with his man and competes"
O'Sullivan, do you see him as a winger or center? AM "I see him as a winger, but it just depends on how the coaches want to use him"
Patrick Hersley, is he able to come to play in North America this year? AM -"No, he will be playing for Malmo in the Swedish Elite League" (and he discussed the CBA rule changs, etc, about the signing deadline)
Paul Baeir Q: It didn't seem like he's progressed the last year or so... AM - Paul plays at Brown U and it's not a program like Michigan or BC...he's progressing though
Pushkarev Q: Can you guys send Pushkarev to the strength guru that all the NHL players in South Bay go to, TR Goodman? AM - We have a strength and conditioning person in Manchester, but the 80 game schedule, especially with Frid/Sat/Sun scheduled games, then practices and other games as well, leave only a day or 2 per week for such workouts...
Gotta go back to work now. Possibly more later. I will say the Kopitar is NOT slow (as some think) he skates very well for a guy 6'4" 220.

"Do you expect Lewis to play a lot this year as a Freshman with Michigan? AM "We have talked with the coaches at Michigan and they say they haven't had a player like Trevor in years..a player who plays a complete game and is good defensively...they say he will play a lot of minutes per game"
Great report. Thanks! I'm having shoulder surgery tomorrow, but if I'm feeling up to it I'm going to try to make the scrimmage. I'll wear my Kopitar jersey if I come.

Whoa, whoa whoa!!! Do NOT have shoulder surgery then wear a Kopitar jersey! Think good karma. Goooood karma.
We can start off today with Richard Petiot. He wasnt on the ice at all and in fact he wasnt in the same state. His roomate from College is getting married and he flew to Denver for a wedding and wont be back until the main camp. And from what I hear from Al Murray he being at this camp was completely optional and he did it to help some of the younger guys out.
SURPRISE OF THE DAY: Bud Halloway, The kid is strong , and hes the 2nd fastest skater on the ice. He is the 3rd best skater after O`Sullivan and Harrold and he has really just surprised me. When we first drafted him I didnt like the pick because he was **** eyed and looked dumb. But he is definatly going to be 1 of our top prospects in the years to come.
STOCK FALLING: Danny Roussin continues to struggle horribily. He just stick out like a sore thumb in a negative way.
BERNIER REPORT: Had a bad moring workout and it was a little disapointing. But ran into him when I was getting out of the crapper and he told me that he hurt his knee and that they dont want him to go out on the ice for the rest of the day and maybe the rest of the week. So that was the cause of him having a bad day.
JOEY MORMINA: The kid has been far from impressive at this camp and he showed his true colors today. On the first puck drill of the morning O`Sullivan embarassed him a little bit and made him fall on the ice on a cross over so he cross checked O`Sullivan in the back. O`Sullivan turned around and sorta pushed Mormina away from him and let it slide but the coach didnt. He sat Mormina out for the rest of the drill and got a long talking to. In the afternoon skate he decided that he wanted to slash Konstantin Pushkarev, unlike O`Sullivan, Pushkarev shrugged it off and just skated away. But once again Mormina got another warning and the coach said that it would be his last practice if he did it again.
ANZE KOPITAR + PATRICK O`SULLIVAN REPORT: Today was by far there most dominant day of camp. They looked spectacular. Other then that there isnt much i can tell you about them that you dont know .
BRIAN BOYLE: Boyle played defense all day today. And when i first saw the guy play i thought he totally blew. But he has really impressed me these last 2 days at camp.
KONSTANTIN PUSHKAREV: He looked good in the morning. As the day went on he got tired and didnt perform well. I think he was trying to hotdog for Dean Lombardi he was hogging the puck alot and missing alot of great oppertunitys to do some nice things with his chances. Sad since he is one of my favorite prospects.
STOCK RISEING: Ryan McGinnis was the best defenseman on the ice today in both ends and he continues to impress me .Niclas Anderson , Patrik Hersley. I was one of the guys talking to Al Murray a little bit along with Peter James Bond. He said that Niclas Andersons skateing has almost doubled since they last saw him in Sweden 6 months ago. Patrik Hersley continues to look really good and strong.
PETER HARROLD: Still the best skater on defense. Still the best puck handler also, but he had an off day and by the look of his face he got beat up a little bit yesterday. He had a few cuts and bruises and I think the 6 hour a day workouts are begining to get to his muscles .
On a side note. I would like to add that I met Peter James Bond today and hes a cool dude! I wish him luck on his move to Denver and all the well for his family. I would also like to say that out of all the players(not including goalies) There is really only 3 players that just completely weak. Im so surprised at the great crop of talent , quality and quantity that the Kings have out there this year. Bud Halloway , Zakoff , Bruan , Anderson , Bernier all of the Kings picks this year just toally look great. Our Goalie situation is totally messed up though. Its sad that a goalie like Bernier who has never had a goalie coach can come to camp and out play guys like Daniel Taylor , Barry Brust and Johnathan Quick. And the only area we lack in is goalie. Other then Mormina our whole defensive camp there are all amazing. Joe Ryan although he is slow he is still smart and posses great skills. More tommarow, after the Scrimmage at 10 o`clock.
STOCK FALLING: Danny Roussin continues to struggle horribily. He just stick out like a sore thumb in a negative way.
He struggled in Manchester when he was here...

Remember that Mormina was drafted by Philly then not signed. Can't help but wonder what DL's and RH's take on the kid is. He's not a very fast/strong skater and tends to get burnt a lot. Should have spent last season in the ECHL...

He was benched last season for many of the same habits...
Riseandfall: great to meet you too. It was good to get out there before I leave next week.
Dead on report about Pushkarev. He is to hotdogging what Avery is about taking stupid penalities. If they would both STRIVE to play disciplined hockey, it would get them farther.
Pushkarev can skate, has excellent puck skills, a decent shot and can finish. He can even compete, but he needs to get a personal trainer and seriously hit the weights...and knock off the extra dipsy doodling. He really does have ptoential, but it's going to come down to someone demanding the right things from him and Konstantine accepting it and doing the work that is necessary for him to make it. Someone needs to hold him accountable. Maybe he needs a veteran roommate and a coach pushing him.
You can tell that Joey Mormina and Paul Baier are not very liked. Joey Mormina is the last 1 on the ice and the first one off the ice. And people try not to talk to him as much. Pual Baier, is very private. He streches totally away from most of the people(for ex...He was at the redline while 9 to 12 people were in the circle...thats the distance) and he doesnt talk to anybody. Plus he doesnt smile.
Great report, riseandfall! Looking at that post, it's hard to believe that you're the same guy whose first post on this board was one run-on sentence without capitalization . Wow, what a difference. We greatly appreciate the reports; please keep them up!
If there's any knock that I'd give, though... hearing some of you say "Kopitar and O'Sullivan were what you expect, so there's really nothing more to say" is a bit of a let-down, at least for me. We want to hear more about those two. Details, details!

you're not going to mention "The Goal," even though he was just picking on the struggling goalie
