By my calculations (I could have made an error but I doubt it) the sens have the 4th best goal differential in the NHL, which means if they keep this up they will be almost guaranteed to be a top 5 team in the NHL in terms of points. This is no slump, my firends, but rather a bump in the road to greatness.
I think you put too much faith in the goal diff. Just because they ran the score up on some weeker teams doesn't mean they'll be top come the end of the year. I'm not saying that they won't be top 5, but only that your logic is flawed. As to this slump, I think it's nearing the end. I like how the sens reacted to events in the game against Atlanta. This 4 game home stand should be very telling... my guess is they will win three for the four.
It's because you lose by 1 goal and win by... well (3 and 4 goals against us)
5 OTT MTL 2
6 OTT MTL 2
From a statistical perspective a team will at the end of the season have about .37 points more for every goal they score more than they give up. I know WHY the sens aren't doing so well, all I'm saying is that based on their +/- they should be doing a lot better than they are and over 82 games will have a damn good record.
