Would have been nice if he had requested a trade earlier when there were free agent defensemen available. I will hate this guy if he decided to ask for a trade now.

Please dont talk about Beauchemin, hes now officially the most overhyped player who plays with the best D in the league. Streit with Niedermayer would look like a genius.

Same for Bergeron whould played with Pronger all year.

Lets talk about Sopel, since hes the kind of D Sourray is.

Conroyd + Sopel for Ribs + Sourray + 3rd Rounder.

Conroyd >> Ribs
Sopel < Sourray
< 3rd Rounder Wash

Thats a downgrade in D, but a big upgrade in the center grit wize.

Vishneski, is another puzzle, I'll look into it.

Maybe Gainey is trying for the 3 way because he got 0 interest in the players in LA, SJ or Anaheim.

I agree about Beauchemin. A very limited player who has some nice assets. But he's basically a battler, not a top 4 guy imo, unless he has a superstar carrying him of course. Souray for Beauchemin is a downgrade and we can't afford a downgrade on our defense when we already need three upgrades.

Well it will be sad to see Souray go if it indeed does happen!
But I do understand Dad before hockey player... it is just too bad that he could not have custody of her and her live in Montreal...Gainey could look after his kid during practice and games!

Souray's value is gonna be zero. He's coming into his UFA year. This sucks.

Huh guys...why is there nowhere else reporting this? you know like TSN, RDS or Sportsnet? Does Morency have his own private line with BG? I am listening to the team 990 right now and they are talking about Souray as part of the top 3 on defence. They obviously haven't heard of what their colleague Morency said.

If he really wants to be with his daughter in California, he's gonna have to accept a contract extension. I totally accept him wanting to be a Dad over a player, but I'd also have no problem making him take a conditional contract extension based on him being traded. There shouldn't be a problem of him leaving Cali on the UFA market if the whole point was to get there in the first place.

Souray's a piece of our core, I don't believe Bob will settle for peanuts.

Doesn't take much chum in the water around here before a feeding frenzy takes place.

That is esactly what I was thinking..if he really does want to go to be closer to his daughter why not make it long term!

Morency isn't exactly an insider or anything.

You got 4 people confirming they heard this on the radio. This is well beyond the HFB rules. You can rest assured this information was said on the Radio. Of course it's just a rumor from one guy on the radio, so take that with the usual caveats - I think (and hope) but most people here understand that.

MORONcy can suck it. The guy is a rumour mongerer. His only source is the endless discussions about Souray's situation on these same message boards.

I would rather keep Souray since there are no other suitable replacements available on the market. The only way to trade Soury is to get a defenseman back in return.

damn, this sucks...hate to see Souray leave. his physical play and his tremendous shot will be missed on our blue line

would Anaheim be interested in Souray? wonder if Gainey could land Getzlaf in return?
I won't make a goofy trade proposal or anything. I'm just saying Getzlaf is a player I'd like Gainey to land

Is there another pending UFA Def in the west we could swap him for? A pending UFA big Center would work too, but the Habs would have to find a replacement D another way (D. Markov? How much is he reported asking for salary?).

Would Conroy be an answer and build off of that for a Gleason
Ding ding ding. Conroy is making almost penny for penny the same as Sheldon and Gleason plays left defence.

Ribeiro + Souray
for
Gleason + Conroy

picks evening things out.

Freakin overpaid NHL "pros". He makes millions and he still has the balls to ask to go elsewhere and feel like he has the RIGHT to decide where he plays. He ain't a UFA yet.

Babies.

I would definitely do that trade. Would LA go for it?

Why are you saying Beauchemin is overrated???
He didn't have 32 pts last year because he was playing with Nied... He was playing the point on the PP and collect almost all is point on the PP. He have a canon of a shot and is a very solid all around player. He can hit, he can skate and he can shoot. For sure Nied help him get better but I think that without Nied he would be a top 4 defenceman in a lot of team.

He wont sign long term and he WANTS a trade. Mke him sign for 2 million or rot all year. Holding a gun to someones head on one issue and begging on another is ridiculous. Sign a cheap deal make him easier to trade.
