trevor daley

Any insight concerning Trevor Daley, RFA?

Given your team's defensive depth (Zubov, Modry, Boucher, Sydor, Klemm, Niinimaa, Daley, Robidas, and now Khomitski, is Daley potentially available?

From what I can gather, he's billed as an undersized (5'10", 190lb) offensive defenseman. At 22, he was playing mid-pairing minutes (18+) last season.

I assume you guys would love to unload Niinimaa, but would your team's brass consider unloading this Daley and his potential? If so, what kind of return is reasonable?

Probably not their first choice but if a young winger/center of similar age was available who could develop into a top 6 guy they might do it. A guy like Upshall or Kosistsyn should intrigue.

I would not call Daley an offensive d-man. He has great wheels but they wanted him to simplify his game and he did. He got little PP time and he took a few chances later in the year on the rush but his offensive game is not fully developed. That said he was very good at times and while he had a breakdown or 2 in the playoffs, he has top 4 promise.

I would have to hope he has top 4 promise, considering he was our #3 defenseman last season and we finished in 2nd place in the West.

He had top 4 minutes but he clearly wasn't great in the playoffs and that is why undersold him a bit . Generally he was very good though

I think Dallas will be looking to trade a defencemen, but I think it will end up being Robidas, because wed probably get the most for him atm relative to his position on the team (Due to his very low salary and good performance last year). Obviously it would be wonderful to trade Niinamaa or Modry over Robidas, but other GM's wont give up much of anything Dallas needs for those guys =p
I really like Trevor Daley myself, and I hope he sticks around ^^ obviously to be playing so many minutes a game as a rookie is great, and he has lots of experiance around him to help teach him the ropes ;D
that being said, as Starsdude mentioned earlier dallas is kinda hurting for prospects at foreward position, something which wont affect us now as I still feel we have a great group (personal opinion, not shared by much of anyone else =( ), but 2 or 3 years down the road it could really start to show =(

talk about underachieving in the playoffs, you guys should trade turco for a goalie who's a great playoff goalie

Now why would the opposing team want to do that?

I doubt a Turco for Ward deal would sit well with the Canes board

Yes, he played in the WCs, as did Robidas.

That's what happens when teams get eliminated early from the playoffs!

Ryan Smyth missed out for the first time in like 6 years, he's like a staple on that team, lol.

Trevor deserves every penny and it was a huge sign of confidence for Dallas to sign him to a 2 year contract as there sure aren't many of those floating around. Trevor has an awesome coast-coast move that he uses discriminately and I think he really pumps up the team when he does it. He is usually a stay-at-home dman who has the confidence and ability to become offensive then get back into position. I doubt he's going anywhere for a long time.

I think a Dallas Dman will be moved for Marty Erat. Nashville is looking for another defenseman and the Stars could use Erat in their top 6.

i think Erat is a LW....how good is he on the right side ? there's no way he gets a top6 spot on the left

Always liked Erat. Any reference for this, or just an idea?

but we won't pay a 3rd liner $1.675 mil....
i think we've only 2 wings making more than $800 (well it's 3 when you count either Barnes or Stefan will play wing)

and i think it's just an idea because
a) NSH will move a winger for a dman
and
b) DAL will move a dman for X

I think that if they have to trade a Dmen, that should be Robidas, Klemm or Niinimaa but Daley is a keeper when Zubov and Modry will be out.

Well, i'ld trade in order Klemm, Niinimaa, and then Robidas.
I'm not saying trade all three, but if i'ld have to guess two of them will be traded.
