Raffi Scores at least two at Msg...

Nice follow of a rebound that he put in while it was still in the air.....

Oops...Make that a second goal # 6. WOW.

Must be an Islander-Ranger fans complaint dept dream game: York, Dvorak, Cross, Torres, Izzy, Brewer.

Just happy for Torres, no complaints.

Go get that first hat-trick...

with all due respect, are you gonna keep starting "status" threads about Isbister and Torres all season long?

I don't think so, but it if I do I promise I will not turn it into a bash Milbury or the organization kind of thing no matter what. Just enjoying see a former prospect do well and love watching that kind of skill really standout. Same with Begenheim and Hunter and all the kids here too.

Have the same kind of curiosity on all the former prospects and traded players.

did you know that Malakov had an assist in that game too???? just kidding...

i understand your interest...i kinda have the same feelings, but i just don't like the "well, he's such-and-such is fire, MM got robbed!" or something along those lines...

answer this:

i didn't think Torres played very well under Lavy. however, considering the recent success of the BST kids, I am curious if Torres would have blossomed under Sterling. opinions???

of course, this is kind of brief lived, but i think Lavy's veteran-reliance never gave Torres a fair assessment of his potential contributions...(in comparison to what Sterling is doing now)

Imo Torres played very well with Yashin and put up some points but was then demoted to fourth line duty with Lavy as coach. Lavy was strictly a veteran guy(except for Wino).Torres didnt have the same connection with Lavy as he (and the other young Isles) had with Stirling. So, yes I think Torres would've blossomed here under Stirling without a doubt.

You have to remember writting for HF for the prior three years I was following Torres in juniors and did his HF profile. I like following the former picks. Kind of lost interest in Malakov after he went awol on the Habs. But he was 25? when he was an Islander rookie?

Still, will never forget Jiggs (not the poster, even if he writes Malakhov as great as Jiggs said it on the telecast) after Turgeon's 50th at Msg.

" And startdust dripping from Malikov, this Russian is something special".......Was just lost after that season.

But to topic: To call him Torres for fourteen games and have him sit on the sidelines and somehow people like Hahn slapping a career third line tag on him was very short-sighted as was the way Milbury and his staff handled him. He had a good camp last season deserved a real opportunity but like Papineau now there is just not much of an chance because there are vets and kids in front of him.

What I find interesting about Torres is he did not step up much for Stirling in Bgpt last season after he was returned to the Tigers. His first year there seemed to be his best.
