Rucinsky Status?

What's the deal with Marty Ruc? I think we need him back, for some reason he's just always been solid for the Rangers. He's perfect for secondary scoring, especially with the loss of Sykora now. Anyone heard anything recently?

Who did Sykora sign with?

Ruch on the 3rd line with Imo and Ward is a good 3rd line.

No one yet... Rosie has versatility but lacks the intensity of a full-time third line winger... no more imitations, please.

For what it's worth, Rucinsky was a point a game player before his injury, and for a 1 year deal he would fit in OK

i wanna see rucinsky, as i wanna see playoffs. We're in good shape right now and by slowing bring youth into the roster we'll get an eventual great team but forcing them in after a playoff year makes no sense.

ehh...im not down with Greg Moore, not yet. Rucinsky has proven himself on the Rangers. The only young guys I want to see on this roster to start are Dawes and Immonen..maybe Staal. But its absolutely essential that the Rangers re-sign Rucinsky to play with Prucha or Shannahan.

Moore is a RW, who is more likely to push out Ortmeyer.

There's always something that prevents Rucinsky from scoring 20 goals (he hasn't hit that mark since 2000). He's a tease offensively and his defense has been going downhill for a while now. He's getting brittle (and doesn't play well injured) and couldn't figure out the new hooking rules last year.

I think we can live without him.

as far a rucinsky is concerned, he's not gonna be a game breaker as far as scoring is concerned. But we really dont need him to be, we need him to move the puck quickly and use some of his speed to keep the other team off balance. Even if he only nets 15 goals, he can still distribute well enough to make sure shanahan is getting the puck. I think his skill can floursigh with all the attention the other teams will be paying to his likely line mate at times in shanahan

So you expect Rucinsky to be in the top 6?--that's where Shanahan is going to be playing. I don't think Rucinsky deserves to play ahead of Prucha--who's a better scorer. And there's no guarantee that Rucinsky will regain his speed--his leg injury really slowed him down noticeably last year.

They are both left wings. If Shanny plays RW it is to allow room for Prucha or Straka to play 2nd line LW with the other on the first line. It has been stated and quoted several times that if Rucinsky returns it will be in the 3rd line LW capacity. It is cetainly arguable that one of Dawes, D. Moore, Hossa, Hollweg, or even Prucha in some bizzare scenerio, will play 3rd line LW instead of Rucinsky. My guess is he comes crawling back for less money then he could have had if he signed the original 1 year deal that was on the table. He stubborness on the 2 year deal will cost him at least $1m.
