Yeah, I know they need a 1st line LW also, but I'm trying to be realistic here...And I also know that their RWs haven't been doing much, but we gotta start somehwere and HOPE guys like Kovalev (maybe Carter) get going.

I'm not much for making proposals, especially since I don't know who's "available", but I know the Rangers desperatley need a LW because The Genius That Is Glen Sather and his plan to use Hlavac the Horrible, Rucinsky, Simon and whoever just won't cut it....

OK, back to the point, rumor (Mckenzie, Staples of Newsday) has it that Sather might be shopping Poti and/or Carter...Just going with that for a second, is there any team out there looking for a young offensive D-man like Poti that might be willing and able to deal a 2nd line LW(not a 30 plus vet), even if the Rangers might have to kick in a bit more (not Moore)?

Look to Pittsburgh and Straka....then add Jagr, move Kovalev to center and there you go, the old Penguins reunited.

Not really. Robert Lang was the third wheel in the highly sucessful Straka-Lang-Kovalev line from 2001-02.

But Lanyez is available too

Probably since Carter's a smidge younger and slightly less expensive.

I would assume the Penguins would rather trade Straka for Fedor Tjutin and Garth Murray though.

Tyutin and Murray are not going anywhere. Sather is stupid but those guys were his draft picks.

I would much rather deal Carter for youth and size not a 30+ midget

I'm pretty sure Pittsburgh would take Carter or Poti for Straka.
Maybe more Carter, because Poti is extremely expensive for a no Defense defenseman.

"Sather is stupid", no he's not, he just went to NYR, ONE BAD MOVE. that town is a career killer.

The Oilers just have a tonne of LWers. One of Isbister or Chimera could be tradeable.

Somehow, I don't think the Oil would want Carter or Poti back! How bout a Poti for York deal?

I guess I was just trying to find out if there were any teams out there that needed an offensive D-man (Poti) bad enough to give up a pretty good LW...Doesn't seem like it...

And although I think Sather has been an utter failure for New York with his high risk/no reward I-am-the-lion-hear-me-roar deals, I don't think he's going to deal youngsters for vets to save his hide...Basically, because there's no room for them and there finally seems to be some light coming from the Hartford youngsters and a few of the kids in College (Crabb, Guenin,Walsh, Jessiman)

Though my opinion means zilch and only Staher's matters, I would not deal Lundmark yet (for Comrie is another story..)....Otherwise, I hope to God Sather doesn't deal Lundmark before giving him a shot.....I've always liked Isbister but, if anything, the Rangers need an over-achiever rather then their customary under-achievers...

Although I think Hlavac has been putrid, I'm all for playing Lundmark with Lindros, but Sather has this thing against playing youthful energhy and enthusiasm since he came to NY......And I agree 100% that the Rangers also lack a playmaking C (can I take back savardf/saprykin for Hlavac/lundmark)...The best passer is Messier but lately he just floats, hangs, waits for the puck, and watches the other team try to score..

How about Bulis from Montreal. I the right situation he has shown the ability to contribute and is a good back-checker. Something the Rangers could use as well. How about Bulis for Barnaby? Habs could use the grit.

Seems fair value wise, but Barnaby's one of the few who bring it nightly, and play with heart for this Ranger team.. So I say no thanks..

LaCouture and Hlavac for Zednik???

If the Rangers were a normal organization this would be a decent deal. But the Rangers have so few defensive prospects it would be tough to give up Lampman without a replacement in the system.
