As I was casually browsing trying to kill my late night case of insomnia after finishing revisions on a paper, I came across some fun information. On NHLPA they have a nice little extensive reading of the faceoff numbers. Although Sakic and Nikolishin are doing nicely, no one else seems to be able to win faceoffs with any decent regularity. Dario, I know you wanted to see McCormick get a chance to see a consistant amount of faceoffs centering the 4th line. Is he any good? Any word on how he was in juniors?
Looking back, last season with Shantz and Aubin along with Sakic all barely above the 50 percent mark, two players trailing just behind with a 47 percent, and another at 46, I'd venture to say that as a team we were quite a bit sharper on the draws.
And for the record, to fuel more Wiemer rumors, he's a 47 percent after 72 faceoffs taken. If placed on the fourth line, he'd at least do better than Steve more at this point (in theory). Last season he was around a 49 percent, the season prior with Florida a 44, and one year before that a 51 with Calgary.
