An aquintance's family member in Windsor offers a room to Spitfire players and I was told that Jovanovski is beyond stupid! He told me that this family member says he was clueless all the time and was just a big dummy

Spezza came to mind, he just seems so slow during his interviews.

Doesn't really matter, these guys know at a young age that they are going to be pro hockey players so they focus more on the ice and less in the classroom.

I heard a story about Jason Doig once.

He was at the tryout camp for the Moose, and asked an employee at the MTS centre where the changeroom was. The employee said "Down the hall, right there" and pointed. Doig went the opposite way with a dumbfounded look on his face. He came back a few seconds later and asked again, and was pointed in the right direction again, this time slowly wandering over there, and repeatedly looking back at the employee.

Ed Jovanovski seems pretty dense as well.

Ok, maybe it doesn't make him dumb, but the quote alone gets him my nomination.
The fact that he can say the word "contingency" puts him ahead of 98.4% of the players in the NHL.

Being illiterate not = being dumb

in fact, it requires you to be smart to keep it a secret for such a long time.
he managed to win the jack adams twice, hes got a stanley cup ring.. now.. i dont know about you, without bragging but id say im doing just fine in the iq-apartment and yet i admire this guy for what hes done in hockey and how he managed to keep his life on a straight lane even with his handicap.
i wouldnt excactly call it being "dumb"
AWESOME post

Thank you very much for that.

Nice to see someone here not bashing players who are making more money than 95% of you will see in a lifetime.

I guess when you think of it that way...who really are the stupid ones?

So not being physically talented enough to play hockey at the NHL level and make millions means you're dumber than they are because you work from 9-5 while being paid much less?? Nice logic.

I guess hockey players are the smartest people in the north america then.

I guess all those people that bash pornstars are stupid also.

Having met Doig a number of times, I easily believe it.

Don't believe me. Ask the lads from Lambeth. Or those who where a Titan. Or Barrie Moore. Hell, ask former Canadian National Soccer player Jason DeVos.

Dude. When a women who had no interest in sports, or journalism, and whored it up, ends up as an anchor of a sports journalism show, it is pretty obvious.

I'm surprised no one mention Ray Emery yet.

Even though this player just retired I'm still going to mention him anyways. Yzerman because he allowed the Red Wings to play him on the 4th line and cut his ice-time down to nothing for most of last season. He then let the Red Wings force him into retirement because it is the best thing for the team and also so a younger player could have his spot.

Spezza is goof. Once i was watching that show on the senators, i think it is OT or soemthing. Spezza was almost in tears talking about how McGrattan always beats him in Madden because he only uses one play.

You're right. Just because you haven't got a certain level of education, it doesn't mean you're a stupid person. I had difficulty with math...passed it, but always got the formulas mixed up. Chemistry was a nightmare. Does this mean I'm stupid? I tend to think it means I just have a problem learning that particular thing.
On a slightly different tangent, this subject reminds me of my dad. He's probably got a IQ pushing Mensa levels and spent a dozen years in University scholarships. His approach to life is to explain everything in every detail to every one, every day. Basically, he assumes that normal people are too stupid to know to check the street and watch for cars

Oh, and let me add I'm pretty sure all the NHL player are literate in their mother toungue.

Dumb

Antti Laaksonen. Once missed Minnesota's bus back to the airport after a game at Nassau Coliseum. He walked up the ramp and asked us where he gets the bus, we pointed to the bus as it rolled towards the street. He said "Oh *****"
