If you expect to get Barker, you should also expect to give up nothing less than Chipchura/Price, and maybe even Latendresse. Barker's going to be a sure-fire star in the NHL, and possibly even a Norris winner; the Blackhawks aren't going to trade him unless the offer makes 'em salivate.

No, that's not what I said at all. I'm saying that, if you want a future All-Star, you're either going to have to include a future or current All-Star to make it happen, and you haven't done so.

Ryder, Chipchura and a 1st... I'd think about it, but that might not be enough.

Can someone please create a thread entitled "Stupid trade ideas", so all these posters who feel the urge to post this nonsense will do so without taking up tons of room.

well they need a dman back . souray plays blackhawk hockey he'd be a fan favorite
and add 35 pts a season on there blueline

the hawks are rumoured to be very intrested in ryder and last season they wanted souray

your saying Ryder, Chipchura and a 1st... could land us calder and barker ?

what about Ryder Souray Perezhogin?

so for the record your saying Ryder, Chipchura and a 1st... could land us calder and barker ?

Maybe, if you caught Tallon in a good mood. I wouldn't hold my breath, though... we'd probably have to toss Souray into that package as well.

You know what, though? Instead of Barker, I'd push for Aucoin. It seems to me that the rebuild's on again in Chi-town, and he could probably be had for a good prospect and a high pick. Besides, it'd take a lot of doing to pry Barker out of there.

the cost to get barker would be too much for my liking,
i'd rather keep our proven assets for the current year...and i'm sure a rebuilding team would like to keep their blue chipper.

Barker isn't a sure fire NHLer and he's not a future Norris winner for sure...he's good, but not perfect. There was always some question marks on him...sure, he's a great prospect and his price tag is quite big, but he's not Pronger or Neidermyer...

The first proposal isn't enough from our side, but the Ryder, Souray, Perezhogin proposal isn't far off IMO...

Barker is far from being a future Norris trophee winner. I don't know what it is about him but I have a feeling he will never reach his potential.

Why is it that people just can't figure out how to make a thread title?

If I read a title that says: "Calder & Barker for Ryder & Souray" I expect the thread to confirm something about those players being traded.

If, however, you were asking if this could happen, the thread title should be: "Trade proposal: Calder & Barker for Ryder & Souray"

Still, one way or another, trade proposals should be posted in the trade forum where people want to see this.

Can admins start locking these so that people get the picture and stop creating these threads in this forum?

Have to go with majority here. I have a hard time seeing how rebuilding team like Hawks would give up on their top prospect like that.

Souray in particular is not a good fit, because his contract is up after season and would leave them, if he indeed wants to go to California.

You could have a case with Calder having pretty much equal value to Ryder ... but what would be the point from Canadiens POV? Lateral move - or even worse since Ryder is the only pure sniper we have right now.

Good thing this was not posted on the trade board.

I would say,

Ryder, Sourray a 2007 1st rounder and a 2008 4th rounder would get the deal done.

It does seem like giving up a lot for a guy who in Calder is maybe equal to Ryder, because while he won't score as much he'll do many other things. In Barker you're trading for potential really, while everyone knows Sourray's cieling, Barker can be a great Dman.

THis seems like a lot but I think it's what it would take to get a deal done.

Not really sure why we think it needs to be built up to the point of having Barker included? Ok, maybe Calder is on the market. And I do like him and wouldn't mind getting him for the Habs. But starting from that point of reference, it seems like too big a leap to suddenly come up with something including Barker, who the Hawks seem to be extremely high on.

Maybe if we want Calder, we just look at options like Ribeiro-Calder or Souray-Calder or Ryder-Calder, whatever floats your personal boat, and just leave it at that?

(Although all that said, I know that despite the prevailing opinion on the ludicrosity of this deal, I am personally not at all impressed by Barker and I wouldn't make this deal from a Habs perspective. I don't like Barker at all. He's a big fluffy kind of dman who just kind of turns me off, sort of like a Malakhov, and I'd rather have a Souray-like defenseman, even with his warts. (But no point in calling me out on that opinion, I know I'm in an extreme minority there and I don't have any defense for it.))

Thanks for wasting my time.

Change the title of your thread, please. Misleading to say the least.
