First off, this thread is one for the ages. The news itself is so funny, but, the comments in this thread are the best.

So the question now becomes, is Wang so insane, that Milbury was actually stopping the bleeding when he was there?

No.

You could field an all-star team with all of the talent Milbury traded away, and don't forget, Wang kept him around, and gave him a promotion of sorts.

Some of the best comments I saw at ESPN:

Mike, Chicago: That type of personnel move is almost Blackhawkian.

Radio|Cleveland: Any truth to the rumor that the Islanders will try to make Snow feel more at home in his new digs by installing a red light on the wall behind the GM's desk that flashes every five minutes?

I'm sorry buddy but the effect is the same, Mad Mike is now the man with the most experience as a GM in the front office. and whats worse hes got the key to Wangs Sphincter.

Dude it doens't matter how much experience he has. He doesn't work for the Islanders anymore. He isn't involved with the team at all. His say in the running of the franchise is no greater than Neil Smith's.

And, no, this was not a sane move. So, are you seeing that every boneheaded impulsive move in the world should be blamed on the EVIL ONE?

Lafontaine is now out apparently too. What an utter joke the Islanders have become. It is a true shame, considering that just a month ago, things started to look good.

What an awful situation.

Darth, to be honest I dont know. I Love this franchise and this Clown who owns the team is disgracing everything the Islanders of Bill Torrey and Al Arbour represented. and he doesnt care. Pat Lafontaine is right Bryan will be next. The Uniondale Fishsticks Featuring Charlies Wang Indeed

Ive had Season tickets since I was 20. I'm turning mine in tomorrow. and I wont go again as long as he owns the team or until he gets someone who knows hockey to run it.

this is a travesty. He's been talking to chuck Dolan obviously.

what you are going to do is the only thing fans can do. Vote with their wallet. It is a shame what has happened to the Isles. When you stop and look back at the constraints that Torrey had to deal with and now you have a bafoon with money running and ruining this team. Kuddos to Patty L. from getting out too!

So when can we expect a name change from Darth Milbury to Darth Snow? Maybe Wang reads this site, and thought it would be a funny rhyme.

This is the worst GM decision since Rejean Houle. Quite honestly, I feel for the Isles fans right now. I know how I'd feel if David Aebischer was suddenly named GM of the Habs. Unfukin believable

Wow what a difference a day makes. Yesterday you were looking at an Islanders team who was starting to look respectable and tonight......it's a disgrace.

Good Gawd! Sorry Isles fans.

I've just cancelled my registration for the Computer Associates "Translating Success in Business To Hockey" seminar.

This is a 'business model' I don't want to see

I'm sure it was just some sort of quip on the theme of crazy Asian dictators who have led their organizations to the brink of disaster.

I feel the same way. I thought that the hiring of respected, experienced hockey people to fill key roles in the organization signalled a new direction for the Islanders. And now, just over a month later, it's back to monkeyshines, offbeat shenanigans, and wacky hijinks.

I mean, it's obviously too early to say that Garth Snow is going to suck as a GM. Who knows, he might be good, bad, average, or so-so. It's not the prospect of Garth Snow as GM that's funny/disturbing/tragic. It's the so-called thought-process underlying the decision, it's the timing, it's the message this sends to Islanders fans.
