With Wang and Milbury in charge? I don't know.

You've got a bunch of guys who have never won anything making the executive decisions for this team and they are supposed to do it as a comittee?

Lafontaine, Snow and Trottier have exactly how much experience with player personnel?

So essentially the "experience" of the team includes a guy who failed as gm, a guy who failed as a coach and has some interesting stories concerning his assistant days and a coach who hasn't been close to the NHL for 7 years because he backstabbed people and who has now proceeded to be involved in other situation very similar?

And to think, none of us were asking to join the commitee.

As I made clear at the press conference last month, we are running this as a business, incorporating the opinions of our hockey operations staff -- including Ted Nolan, Bryan Trottier and Pat LaFontaine," said Wang. "Despite Neil's commitment to me that he could work in this environment, he later expressed to me on a number of occasions his philosophical opposition to our business model.

"In light of our differences, I felt that I had no choice but to make this decision in the best interests of the Islanders and our fans. I'm very proud of our draft and the roster additions our staff made this month. Our fans should know that with Ted, Garth, Bryan and Pat helping to lead the way, the Islanders are in very good hands

If anyone is listening on AM 660 WFAN, Wang sounds incredibly difficult to talk with. He claims that Smith in addition to one other person didn't follow the pattern....I think he wishes he had the blue pill @ this time.

On a side note: Does anyone notice the comparison between the Canadian Minister of Film in the South Park Movie and Wang?

"Can I finish? Please, can I finish!?!?!?"

Dog is ripping him to shreds... Oy....just Oy.

Seriously. I am an avid Dog hater, but I have to admit that this guy is willing to lay into people when they deserve it.

Wang is pretty much saying that Garth Snow will be the GM in name only, and that all decisions will be made by a board (similar to those used in other businesses) consisting of Lafontaine, Trottier, Nolan and himself. If I was an Islanders fan, I would be most concerned with Wang's comment that, in the end, it is HIS money (basically implying that he plans to involve himself in hockey decisions).

It will be very interesting to watch this play out.

When you're comparing the Islanders to a small business you just lost credibility.

Not many small businesses have a corporate board room and bring in a guy with no experience to lead them to better days.

Lafontaine, Trottier and Nolan have won exactly what as decision makers?

They just lost the only guy actually has accomplished something in that capacity.

I'm actually impressed that the Mad Dog knew enough of the Rangers to say he knows Sather is the GM, Maloney is there, but he has to figure Sather pulls the trigger.

I'm surprised he even knew who Maloney was.

This is beyond comical. The Isle's organization makes Isiah and the frickin' Knicks look like geniuses. Bill Gates is probably looking at this and thinking "great, now I can promote the head janitor in my Seattle office to run my company when I retire." This just proves that there is someone in the Fishsticks organization more delusional than Mad Mike.

LONG LIVE CRAZY CHARLIE AND MAD MIKE. A MARRIAGE MADE IN HEAVEN!

Eh, I suppose he knew the situation, thought it sounded good in theory, and changed his mind when he saw it in practice. It's not really that hard to imagine.

To me, the idea of a team being run by committee doesn't seem like it would work, even if you had good people in place, and it doesn't seem clear that they have good people in place. I think you have to have someone in charge. Sure, you need to have good people in place everywhere, and one guy can't make all the decisions, but SOMEONE has to settle the disputes and make the calls when there is disagreement.

I simply cannot see this situation working out well for the Isles.

Ah, the joys of procrastination. Guess I'll keep the avatar a little longer just because I can...

A friend of mine got me a job in a new organization a couple months ago. Then our mutual boss got wind that my buddy had been looking around himself. They had a meeting, and the boss told my buddy "If you leave then your friend is fired".

I thought I must be living in the Twilight Zone and nothing could top THAT. (sigh) My "being wrong" streak continues unabated.

Garth Snow??????????????? Good Lord. The judgment must be fast approaching.

the Islanders are a J-O-K-E.

I feel terrible for Smith, hes a smart hockey guy caught up in Wang's world of awful ownership. What a terrible human Wang is.

Well at least the Prucha vs. Hossa & Ortmeyer vs. Hossa debates have taken a back seat.

Hah, it's the small things that give it away. Teddy's obviously in the driver's seat here

Still just seems to me that Ted Nolan finally found someone crazy enough to do what no one else would, give him the keys to the convertible.

And he did to Smith what he couldn't do to Muckler, get him out.

Like I said, Nolan better win something because if this doesn't work the guy is never getting a sniff at the NHL.

Seems to be in this scenario that Smith may even come out the winner despite being fired.

The Islanders look like a mess, Wang looks like an idiot, Snow looks like a puppet, Trottier still looks a guy with a great playing career and serious question marks about his post playing ability and concerns about Nolan grow.

Smith on the otherhand looks like he was wrongfully cast out of a madhouse and will probably get some sympathy.
