Not a bad depth move. He did score 25 with the Yotes last year. Something has to be going on with the Flyers. We have way too many forwards.

I forgot about Sanderson. I had no idea he scored 25 last season... that is pretty good.

I have no problem with this signing. He scored more than the three guys we let got combined (Savage, Brash and Radio).

We are getting close to the cap so somethings gotta give soon...

Well there's our 2nd line winger we were so desperate for. I like this signing depending on the amount.

I think this is also another clue to the fact that Primeau is retiring.

Geoff Sanderson plays his best on losing teams. Anyone who's watched him or looks at his stats knows that.

Kind of an odd move to me. Wouldn't that $2 million have to come from the "Sign Simon Gagne" fund?

Personally, I think today's bad news about Primeau prompted Clarke to spend a bit more freely.

Sanderson is a great pickup for the 2nd line.

So do you think it is from Keith Primeau or not being able to get Gagne signed yet?

it really has to be primeau, he needs to give it up he has a stranglehold on the finances of the flyers.

It better be the 1st unless Gagne gets a good return.

You don't sign an aging UFA to replace your 27 year old 40odd goalscoring left winger due to a squabble over a million or so dollars.

It's most likely a knee-jerk move to the Primeau news, he is most likely going to hang them up.

There is also a SLIGHT SLIGHT chance maybe Clarke is considering trading Gagne, who knows.

If it's less than Jeremy Roenick or Georges Laraque are getting, I'm going to flip out.

There's no way Sanderson was signed as an insurance policy for Gagne. The Flyers had a gaping hole on the 2nd line, and Sanderson will fill that hole. The expectation that Primeau's salary will come off the books makes it possible.

I really don't think this has anything to do with Gagne.

Good for the Flyer nation then. Looks like an upgrade to me.

Dead right, the Flyers had no 2nd line RW except for Dimitrakos. Sanderson fills that gap and I think theyve used the money saved from Primeau.

If Gagne is traded, a player capable of playing on the top line will have to come back.

This has nothing to do with Gagne.
If anything it's due to the bad news about Primeau or Handzus is close to being traded.

no.

if you look at the Flyers roster, it doesn't make a ton of sense. i would expect Clarke to make some moves between now and the start of the season that sheds a few players for draft picks and whatnot (i wouldn't expect Niko to be back with the team next year, for example).

He also tends to alternate between a 25-30 goal season and an injury plagued season.

I wish him nothing but the best, but at this point in his career he needs to be a role player. Counting on him for 2nd line duty is risky.

Less risky than relying on Dimitrakos.

Sanderson is a great team guy, played with heart all the time here in Phoenix, and was absolutely CLUTCH in the shootout.

If its for 1.2-1.5 Im going to flip, as rt put it.
