This may be a Gainey steal as was Begin and Murray.

Yes indeed...possible 2nd line replacement if Ribs falters? The Yotes fans on their boards could only explain the trade by saying that it was probably to make cap room for a big-time player, which can only be a good sign for us.

I remember a little about him when he played for the Leafs. He was a good player then, and it's nice to read that his 2-way game has improved too. I'm a little surprised that the Coyotes let him go so easily. If there's something wrong with him then the Habs are only on the hook for his salary for one season. If he has a good season, then he may walk away, or stay if he likes it in Montreal. I'm optimistic that he will fit in well on the 3rd line, with the occasional move up to the 2nd or 1st line depending on injuries or scoring slumps.

He liked the Bulls? Well I guess with MJ there, it was hard not to like them.

I thinhk it's safe to say that we could have one of, if not, the best shut down line in the NHL. Throw Johnson on a line with Bonk and Begin (who together had fantastic chemistry towards the end of the season) and that's a solid line!

It should score a few goals as well.

My brother has taken him on his 2k5 team and he's beaten me with game-winners two games in a row. He's awesome in video hockey: speed and a big shot.... lol

Totally... it's a line that can shut you down, but if you slack off against them, they'll make you pay! SOLID!

Instead of Bonk..., how about this:

Begin Johnson Murray (great 4th line)

Perezhogin Plekanec Kostitsyn (speedy, skilled 3rd line)

Other then his great attitude, excellent work ethic and shut down capabilities, what I like most about Johnson is his knack for getting in front of the net. Check out how many of his goals were tip ins. He's got excellent timing in front of the net. Something we haven't had since Gilmore.

to Gainey for another skilled character player.

He has 84 overall in NHL 2006
I was surprised... especially when Samsonov has 85 .

I like it, but I don't think we should rule out Bonk... I think he's going to have a great year this year... he kind of has to since he's in a contract year! lol

Plus at the end of the sesaon last year, him and Begin were flying together.

Wow, great vids...but MAN US announcers sound like they're commenting on a funeral. No wonder hockey isn't popular even the announcers aren't riled up by it. I'd rather have CBC's annoncers cheering for the leafs than someone announcing the game like he's not even interested.

interesting to note he played with Souray while in sweden, maybe the habs spoted him there while they checked on sheldon one day, or maybe sheldon said to gainey: hey this guy is good, you should get him!
either way, im happy to have him, he seems like a solid guy!
