Future Kings Players?

Is anybody else excited about all of the Contract negotiations going wrong with star players on other teams?

Bergeron and Boyes from Boston
Gagne from the Flyers
Zherdev from the Jackets

Its going to be interesting to see if the Kings can make some things happen? Anyone else that you guys know of still having contract troubles? Post there names here please

Nagy from Phoenix
Maybe Briere or Afinogenov from Buffalo?

I would LOVE Bergeron, but there's no chance Boston lets another franchise player walk after losing Big Joe last season. Boyes I don't know much about, Gagne I just don't see Philly letting get away; and while we'd all marvel at Zherdev's skills, I don't think his character/leadership/dedication/etc fit the mold of a DL kind of player.

Don't forget Gomez! Oh, and of course Biron asking for a trade, but no way would the Kings have any hope (after getting Clouts.)

Even though I know the kings won't be great this year, I am looking forward to see the new guys in uniform. It looks like a good group of guys personality-wise. Hopefully we can gel and have a team that actually LIKES each other this year!

I'd like Gomez, and he'd certainly fit DL's seeming tendency to pick up even more Americans, but I just have to think he'd be too rich for our blood.

Agree re: next season, though- even if they don't win a huge amount, I think they're going to COMPETE, and it will be fun to see the kids making progress surrounded by solid vets [it makes SUCH a difference whether they're running in place as an org, or actually have a vision working towards the future]. Kinda like Buffalo the last couple seasons, I'd think....

Gomez is being compared to Brad Richards and his 7.8 Million dollar contract. Lets see how much you like him now

I would love to see Briere as a King. 3.5 Million for a player of his talent is like woaH! Same with Gagne. I rather get 3 players for 15 million. Then 1 player like Gomez for 6 or 7

Assuming that the King get Avery , Cammy , Gleason and Brown signed. Think of the depth we will have if we make a trade for a few players. Kings are in a very good spot just a few players away from being a really complete team.

Im not even stressing our goalie situation. Cloutier will do until Bernier is ready. Im not a pipeline dreamer but anyone who saw this kid play knows hes frickin amazing. And I always put players on the Kings down on these boards.

Or how much we'd have to pay to retain them.

If Gomez wants in excess of 6 million, screw him. Likewise for many of these other soon to be overpaid players.

Frankly, getting excited about troubled contract negotiations with other teams is very short sighted. It's a bad reflection on the overall marketplace - a market that the Kings have to try and navigate themselves to be successful.

FWIW ... I wouldn't get all too excited ... if we do end up signing Cammalleri / Gleason / Brown to supposed long term contracts, there's not gonna be much if ANY CAP room left at all ... certainly not enough to get some $4-8 Mil type like some of you are dreaming upon.

Very true! You do have to figure, most of the guys we are naming we would have to give up roster players to get as well. That would clear up money through trade.

Still can't believe the kings passed on him 4 times in the 2003 draft.
I have feeling if Bergeron was around during rounds 6-7, Kings MAY have selected him then. Just ranting, sorry.

Now that i think about it, would you rather have Brown, Boyle, [nothing], and Pushkarev --- Or Bergeron?

Bergeron just might go down in the Luc Robitaille hall of fame for guys who were overlooked by everyone but turned out to be sublimely special players. I like Bergeron A LOT.

The Kings weren't the only team to pass on him. He wasn't on anyone's radar except the Bruins. You can thank MOC and his staff for that one.

Briere would definitely be my pick. Little guy has heart and leadership and continues to improve each year.

We already have our Daniel Briere in Mike Cammalleri. Briere is the better playmaker/leader but Cammalleri will be the better goal scorer. Lock him up DL!!

And so it begins. Cammalleri & a pick.

Hey, it makes sense.... Unite Nash with a good Canadian boy and we pair up the Russians.
