Latendresse can't play in Hamilton?

What does Timmins mean when he says Latendresse CAN'T play in Hamilton this season? It's either the big club or back to Junior. Can anyone clarify if this is the team's option or if there is some sort of rule?

no, he needs to be 20, no matter what... if he signs a professional contract, he could play in the playoffs for Hamilton, that's it

Milan Michalek...

I think I can keep going on...

That was because it was the lockout year. They made a special rule that if you had played in the NHL the previous season at 18, you could play in the AHL at 19.

As for Michalek, the 20 year old rule doesn't apply to Europeans.

There was, I don't know if it's been changed with the new CBA, a rule that also stated if a player had completed 4 years of junior they could play in the AHL at 19. Basically if the player was good enough to crack junior at 15 he could play in the AHL at 19.

Latendresse can not play in Hamilton this year until his season with Drummondville is over. You can play in the AHL at 19 as long as you turn 20 before Jan 1st, that's what D'Agostini can play in Hamilton and Lats can't. Or if you have 4 full seasons in the CHL, then you can play in the AHL.

Which is why Jason Spezza played in Binghamton as a 19-year old.
