Patrick Batschi

Where is he playing this year? Is he in the AHL, or is he back in Switzerland?

Bartschi is in Switzerland.

He's too young to play in the AHL. He'll most likely be brought over for the AHL next season.

I have a good feeling that he will make our lineup next season (if there's a season)

I don't know if he'll make it outright, but I'll reserve that until I see him in camp.

He is doing very well (8 goals, 8 assists in 17 games last I checked) in the Swiss league though.

Also, he is one of, if not the leader(s) in plus/minus on his team, and there are other guys with pretty poor minus ratings. I know that stat can vary greatly depending on circumstance, but it is nice to see that he is a pretty good defensive player too.

By the way, he and Andy Schneider are my favorite prospects in the system.

(I don't know if anybody here is an expert on the Swiss league, but anyways...)

How good is his team that he's leading in Plus/Minus?

They're 6th or 7th(out of 13) teams in the league as far as record goes.

Euros can play in the AHL at 18. See Vinny Prospal.

Michal Barinka is in the AHL at the moment and he's 19.

I think it's important to bring guys over as soon as they're ready. Sure, he's basically developing free of charge over there, but from what I understand the Swiss league has all the physical play of an all star game.

Players can be in the AHL at the age of 19 as long as they turn 20 before December 31st of that season.

Shane Endicott was 19 his first year in the AHL, but turned 20 that November.

There are separate rules for Euros and junior kids. That's all I'm saying.

Exactly.

Patrick Stefan played in the IHL (and could've played in the AHL) before he was even drafted into the NHL.

I think you can play in the AHL at 18/19 as long as you weren't selected in the CHL Import Draft.
