Who would you rather have? Got this poll off sportsnet, in which Spezza won with 62% of the votes. Take into consideration that this is who you think will be better in future, theres no doubt Kovachuk is ahead of Spezza in terms of development.

I know people will disagree with me, but I don't see Spezza ever being better than Ilya is right now. That is to say, I believe Ilya is currently the best goal scorer in the league and if he doesn't get any better, which he will, i'd still take him over Spezza. That being said, I think Jason will be a very solid #1 center in the Allison mold.

Oh well... Like Bure in his prime vs Modano in his prime. Which one do you take? Where's Spezza's limit? And worse, where's Ilya's limit??? We can't awnser it right now. And there's no rocket scientist over here that travelled in time to tell us the truth.

A better comparison would be Ribiero or Kovalchuck

that`s a joke, I hate Ribiero,

I personally think Kovalchuck will be better in the future, Spezza will be very good but Kovalchuck could possibly be the best sniper in the game in a few years...if he isn`t already that is.

Kovalchuk, but by the looks of it, how can you go wrong with either one?

From the looks of this poll, I'd say the voters of the Sportsnet poll were a little biased.

It think Spezza will be better in 5 years.......not right now though.....The Sens brought Spezza along slowly cu they didn't overly need him at the time.Kovalchuk was tossed in right away. Spezza will be a be 2 way player either way.

It shows and means absolutely nothing besides the fact they once again prove to be grossly biased to their Canadian native's.

Ilya by a landside..

I picked Kovalchuk, but it was somewhat close. I think theres a good chance that Spezza could develop into the player sens fans think he will be.

I'd have to go with Kovalchuk. Unless Spezza becomes a dominant defensive force (possible under Jaques Martin) he will be lucky to equal the number Kovalchuk will put up. I personally would rather have Kovalchuk on my team, though what difference does it even make? Both are going to be fantastic NHLers.

Kovalchuk, but I wouldn't mind having either on my team.

Well this poll may have been a little biased, but i think it painted an accurate reflection. Kovachuck is the hot pick right now, no doubt. But when its all said and done, i think Jason would be more complete player.

And on that note,

Bobby Holik is a more complete player than Ilya Kovalchuk. Complete players are overrated. Goal scorers are underrated

That poll was a joke.

Kovalchuk *right now* is better than Spezza will ever be.

Is Kovalchuk *right now* a 100 point player? I think not. Spezza has a good shot at becoming a 100 point player, not to mention the fact that he will most likley be a better defensive player.

I think he is. I don't think anyone would be suprised to see Kovalchuk get over 100 points this season.
