How about Parrish for Hlavac?

Isles save 1 mil. Hlavac will eventually break out of his slump & replace some of the goals Parrish would have provided.

Parrish provides additional offense for Rangers.

Fair?

Unless Parrish can play LW, no interest.

If NYI moves Mark Parrish it will not be for an less productive, and even less dimensional player, who would not crack NYI's top three lines at the current time. They'd even take futures before taking on someone else's dead weight.

Better yet, put Milbury and Sather on waivers and then we can concentrate on the hottie swap.

Hlavac has been in a slump for 3 years. What makes you think going to the Isles (his 5th team in 3 years) would suddenly make him break out?
I can't really see why anyone would want Hlavac at all, especially for a player like Parrish who is on pace to score at least 23 goals for the 5th time in 6 years.

How about? NO!
How many teams has Hlavac been with in the past couple of years? He is nothing more than a journeyman. He isn't breaking out of any slump. He is done. Parrish still has skill and talent. Try again please.

although the wiemer situation is a pure salary dump, if parrish were to be moved, i believe something useful will be coming back. i don't believe the isles will go for hlavac. mm could have signed him this summer but chose not to. also, we must remember that mm got rid of hlavac before he even played one game in an islander uniform. mm must not be a fan.

Czerkawski had a bad outing with Montreal, but has found his game back on the Island...

Hlavac has had bad outings with Philly, Vancouver, Carolina, and now in his 2nd stinct with the Rangers...

one guy had a bad season - terrible season really... the other has had a bad 3 seasons!

one guy has had several productive seasons... the other has had 1 - years ago.

I'd say that Hlavac and Czerkawski aren't that similar at all... at least not when it comes to their production records over the years.

---

and Parrish for Hlavac??? I don't think that's even close.... Hlavac's value has to be close to rock bottom right now.

Nothing Hlvac's done this yr makes me think he'll turn things around.

Chow the last 5 yrs:
1999-2000: 35 goals 35 assists
2000-2001: 30 goals 32 assists
2001-2002: 22 goals 29 assists
2002-2003: 5 goals,9 assists
2003-2004: 10 goals,5 assists

Hlavac the last 5 yrs:
Season Team GP G A P PIM +/- PP SH GW GT Shots Pct
1999-2000:19 goals,23 assists
2000-2001:28 goals,36 assists
2001-2002:7 goals,3 assists(flyers)
2001-2002:9 goals,12 assists (Canucks)
2002-2003:1 goal,1 assists
2002-2003:9 goals,15 assists
2003-2004:2 goals,2 assists

when Burke was shopping Hlvac a few seasons ago,the isles offered Webb+Weimer for Hlavac+ 1 other player who went Canes.

the other player that went to the canes was Druken.

but I didn't know this was offered by the Isles... at the time I would have probably wanted Burke to take this offer... Webb and Weimer were both playing decent - brought tons of energy, toughness and grit...

but now, I wouldn't deal Malik for those two... Malik has been a very pleasant surprise in Vancouver.

Either Stan Fischler or Brooks reported that
Burke called and asked for Izzy,Milbury counter with Weimer+Webb.

HELL NO
Parrish is streaky as hell, but he is MUCH MUCH better than Hlavac. Where the hell would Hlavac even play on the Isles?? Get serious. Parrish is someone who will score 25-30 goals. Hlvac has scored 29 in the last 4 seasons. And whoever mentioned that Czerkawski & Hlavac is on the same llevel, Say WHAT??

Webb and Weime for Hlavac and Druken? Holy crap that would have been good! Hlavac never found his mark on the 'Nucks and remember last season when Druken went from Canucks-Carolina-Toronto in the course of like, 1 month? Webb and Weimer might have done some good. However, nucksfan (bless you for loving the nucks) is right. Malik is a good overall defenceman with a wicked wrister. But Langdon's off to MTL so... the trade was kind of undecided. But Malik was a good choice.

I don't know what some Ranger fans are thinking. Parrish is a proven goalscorer much more consistent then Hlavac. I would do that in a heartbeat but the Isles get screwed here big time.

Yes, I will continue to lament over this trade. Giving up Malik for that Hlavac and Druken wasn't the brightest thing Jim Rutherford has ever done. This is after he picked up Josh Holden in the waiver draft and wasted everyone's time for the first 4 games of last season.

One thing baffles me, though. Why the hell did Sather sign Hlavac? Did he not take into account his past few years?
