5 Guys to build the future around

Give me the 5 players in the Sharks organization that you think they should build the team around.

Heres my top 5.

1. Brad Stuart
2. Patrick Marleau
3. Milan Michalek
4. Scott Hannan
5. Alyn McCaulley/Marco Sturm

So I put in 6.

Makes sense, Toskala doesn't look to bad.

Why? Who'd take his place? At least trade him if he don't fit in but to let him go for free..

I'm still hoping Kiprusoff gets a some action here eventually. This is useless. If he's not going to play, assign him to TPS Turku and get it over with. NOBODY is going to take him, I've said it since last spring. The goalie market is saturated with good goalies. I've always had confidence that Vesa and Miikka could get the job done, so that if Nabokov were traded for upgrades at forward or defense, they could get it done.

1. Milan Michalek
2. Brad Stuart
3. Scott Hannan
4. Marco Sturm
5. Alyn McCauley

Stuart and Hannan because they're excellent, still rather young, defensemen. They log big minutes. Marco to mentor the other Germans, Michalek should be obvious and McCauley because he's a good influence, good ethic, good two-way skills. If Boyes had more speed, I'd think of him as a lot like McCauley. I was really happy when San Jose got McCauley from Toronto, because I thought Alyn should have been given a shot at the second line last year in Toronto after his play-off performance.

Guess what? Lombardi's trade of Bradley for Primeau isn't going too bad is it? (Seemed pointless at the time, but Wayne looks good at there, mainly because he gives a consistent effort. I don't know what it is, but he looks better in San Jose than in Pittsburgh or Tampa, where I watched him some on TV, well and in person too in Pittsburgh.)

Frankly, I liked the deal at the time. And Bradley has been REALLY bad in Pittsburgh. No points so far and a team worst -11.

The Sharks pr (aka Drew Ramenda) really tends to talk up players. I remember how Drew used to say how hard Bradley works and how good of a young kid he was. It made me think that Bradley realy had potential.

But I am glad they got Primau. Where have they been playing him mostly - on which line and with whom?

I think he has some speed. Would they put him on the right wing of either of the first two lines?

Which is why I have Sturm ranked number two on my list. Besides his great game...he can also be contribute in the development of at least three players (Goc, Ehrhoff, n Hospelt...Patzold n Ehlechner to a lesser degree). His value to this team is outstanding.

mccauley

I wouldn't put marleau here. He has great talent and I hope he develops, but I can't be sure he will and I can't have that as a foundation to build on.

He was given a shot. He didn't do much of a job with it, though - and after a while, Antropov got the role. To be fair, the whole team got off to a rather poor start, so perhaps Quinn should have been more patient with him. Anyways, Im thrilled for McCauley this year. Im glad he's finally getting the chance to succeed offensively.
